Re: Testing my Pub Quiz

Here goes indeed:
  • Rugby - how many points do you get for scoring a try in Rugby Union (unconverted)? - Bonus point - how many points for the conversion 5 + 2
  • Football - How many teams in the English Premier League - bonus 1 point (half point for 2) name the 4 teams that have won it since the first season in 92-93 20. I'm guessing at Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, and somebody else - Liverpool?
  • Baseball - what year were the Blue Jays founded? no clue. 1967
  • Golf - the Ryder Cup was first competed for in 1927, then between GB and the USA, how many times has it been played? Bonus point - counting the GB and Europe teams as the same, who as the most wins USA or GB/Europe 37 times? (gap for the war, moved from odd to even years due to 9/11). USA for more wins
  • NHL - 12 Women have their names engraved on the Stanely Cup, how many are Canadian all of them
  • NHL - How many regular season wins (incl OT wins) did the Flames get last year? oh dear - what are there, about 80 games in a regular season? Will I be flamed by flames fans if I guess at 50?
  • Football - The first season for the Scottish Premier League was in 98-99, so there have been 10 titles contested, how many teams have won it or placed 2nd? 5
  • NFL - Of the 32 teams in the NFL right now, how many have not won a Super Bowl, +/- 1 for half a point no idea. 3?
  • Tennis - what world rank is Andy Murray 5
  • Olympics - Calgary hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics and Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter games, what year did the only other Canadian City host one of the games? Montreal 1976

Note: in deference to your Canadian guests, you may want to clarify that in your questions football=soccer!

Thanks for the response, looks like I might need to improve this round, it's the one I've been struggling with the most, I've been trying to work back from answers that I know people at the quiz will know to get good questions. I'm hoping the answers will be such that people will kick themselves once they hear, but maybe that's tough thing to wish for...

Fledermaus' OH scores - 3 out of 12

Thanks for the grammar check and sorry for the confusion on the Jeopardy one, blame the long winded Emmy official titles might use editorial control to cut it to just best game show.

Any suggestions for geogrpahy type questions to replace them for Canadian/Scots appreciated

Final General Knowledge round -
  • Prompt trading WTI Crude in Cushing hit the record high price for a barrel in early July, what was the price to within 50c/$bbl $153?
  • What is the US state capital of Washington Know it's not Seattle... is it Spokane?
  • What connects Sir Wilfrid Laurier, William Lyon Mackenzie King, Sir John A Macdonald & Sir Robert Borden (NB not that they are all ex-PMS)? Bonus point for the obvious one missing Ha! I know that. They're on Canadian banknotes... obvious one missing from the list is the Queen, on the $20 note.
  • What colour is zero on a roulette wheel? What is the payout odds when betting on zero green. The odds of landing on any given number depend on whether you're playing an American table (with double zero) or French (single zero). For a double-zero table landing odds are 1/38 (1/37 for single-0) and payout in both cases is 35:1. American casinos have a greater house advantage than European ones because they don't change the payout odds despite the extra 00 pocket. Why do I know this? I don't gamble... :o
  • In what year was the book Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix first published 2004?
  • What connects Honey Rider, Tiffany Case, Dr Christmas Jones & Vesper Lynd they're all names of Bond girls
  • Which toys name originated from the Danish for "Play Well" only famous Danish toy I can think of is Lego
  • What is Oenology the study of? wine
  • Billions of people around the world know Miss Roberts better as what ? Clues - she has had over 40 pets (including a lion & a zebra), had a boyfriend from 1961 until she broke up with him in 2004, she hasn't really aged… absolutely no idea.
