Re: Summer to Fall overnight..
Not related to BC, but weather related.
Trio of category four hurricanes blow across the Pacific | Toronto Star Apparently the first time 3 major hurricanes have been recorded in the Pacific at the same time since records have been kept, the Pacific is averaging several degrees above normal this year, so suppose warmer water means more storms. |
Re: Summer to Fall overnight..
Rainfall totals for the last 4 days at Vancouver airport 58mm, total rain for the last 119 days 46mm. All of August YVR saw 68mm (average August is 37mm)
Abbotsford 42mm for August vs 46mm average for normal August. Squamish 177mm vs 66mm average for a normal August. Whistler 97 mm vs 48 in a normal year. Victoria 17mm vs 24mm in a normal year. I can say for Squamish we got a boat load of rain, and 177mm isn't surprising. (Numbers came from Global BC.) |

How does that work? Aren't the "last 4 days" also part of the last 119?
I think they did it more to show how dry the summer had been prior to the storm. |

It should clear up by Friday. Hopefully we'll get a a couple of weeks of sunny weather as I have our annual Gulf Island lads beano, I mean an ecological research and management fieldwork project next week. ;)
We are gonna attempt the PNE Thursday as my wife got some free tickets, hoping for some semi-dry weather, but rain still in the forecast, but the weekend looks nice for sure. Either way gulf island outing sounds fun......lol 14 day outlook (not including today) only has 3 rainy days listed, 2 being Wed and Thurs... Of course 14 day outlook isn't always the most accurate. |

Re: Summer to Fall overnight..
Well the storm on Saturday caused the single largest outage BC Hydro has seen. They say 710,000 customers lost power and that represents half of their customers apparently.
They expect everyone to be back online with power by today sometime. They have 500 employees working in metro Vancouver from around the province and have responded to 1,800 issues since Saturday, about what they see in an entire month. Oh well, maybe this will get them to bury as many of the lines as possible which reduces outages and damages from storms. B.C. storm: 'Largest outage event' in BC Hydro history - British Columbia - CBC News Our dog is getting a little irritated at the rain, she will go out to do her business, but doesn't want to stay out any longer and doesn't want to walk in the rain.... She isn't a big dog and this weather is cold for her...lol |

Snowed today at the peak at Whistler Blackcomb... Maybe a sign of a good ski season....
