Interesting piece. The unfortunate upshot of all this genetic tinkering is that in a century or two we will end up as a species of clones.

Quite possibly. The things science can and will be able to do, some of it is a little unsettling.

The brain is still one of the least understood organs as far as I know, its a tricky thing to figure out for science it seems.

Yes, despite massive advances, very early stages for understanding the brain. Look up "connectome" for some more insight.
