Re: Spring...what the hell??
Headed out at about 5:30 to play footie (indoor), played from 6 till 7, spent almost 10 minutes scraping the car after only being away from the car for a bit over an hour, drove 2 minutes down the road had a lovely pint (Flying Monkeys Live Transmission Milkshake IPA in case anyone is wondering) with the team, got back in the car, scraped again for 10 minutes and then drove home. Main roads cleared but my street was the worst as it is the least travelled.
Getting all worked up about it is pretty futile. By the law of averages I'm sure there will be a period of time in the autumn where it will be sunny a lot and 10 degrees or so above average and this 'blip' in April will all be forgotten about. |
Re: Spring...what the hell??
No power today. I had to slither on hands and knees across the ice to get to the garage to start the generator. I wondered how people who believe the "embrace winter" crap think they're going to get to their smorgasbord of healthy outdoor activities.

Re: Spring...what the hell??
Beautiful sunny, if slightly cold day here today. Been a bit windy of late but little precip. Apparently there is a risk of freezing rain later in the week.
We are, of course, in the phony war period of Canadian retailing. Merchandising schedules demand that stores be full of gardening stuff, BBQ's, summer clothes etc when, it reality, that shiny new lawn mower is not going to get any use for another 2 months or so.;) |
Re: Spring...what the hell??
I was lazy this morning, but got my come-uppance. Couldn't be bothered to shovel the windrow of congealed slush and ice pellets that the plough had left across the end of the driveway. It was a bit more solid than it appeared from the front door. Car beached, had to get the shovel out and dig out under the door sills so that all four wheels were once again in touch with the ground.

Re: Spring...what the hell??
It took us a while to scrape 5mm of ice off Souvette's car this morning (I measured a piece of it). The stuff is still coming down. And it's very windy. Some of the trees are looking decidedly iffy.
At least we didn't lose power. My neighbourhood has buried cables. |
Re: Spring...what the hell??
Raining here in Hamilton. Foggy. But snow/slush stuff did not freeze so when I went out I just plowed through it and the car survived.
Now when is it gonna bugger off??? |

Freezing rain overnight and more this morning. It's snowing now. The poor dog's pooping on ice challenge continues. The crust of ice on the compacted ice pellets are even for clawed paws and he slid down the slope while in position. |
Re: Spring...what the hell??
Heavy snow here. For a long while we had the odd combination of internet but no electricity. Now the house internet has gone out because the power to the tower has failed. We have tethering as long as we have petrol for the generator to charge the phone.

It's changed to rain here and it looks like there will be a lot of it. The temperature is also warming up. This ice won't be around long.
On a lighter note, I decided on Friday to give Souvette what she wanted. She didn't argue and neither did our son. It was done quickly, with me paying, naturally. This thing is currently at our son's place, waiting to be brought here. It would help if I knew how to attach pictures........... |
Re: Spring...what the hell??
Looks like it is holding off for a little bit, i'm going to try and go out for a walk before it starts coming down again.

If not already you’re soon going to be very much in love, interspersed with moments of anger and frustration. No different really from human to human love.
It is going to get a lot bigger |

At least we didn't lose power. My neighbourhood has buried cables. I thought of you all when having lunch today, sitting in warm sunshine in the cours and sipping a glass of fine wine. |
