Some help please
 
Hi all
Myself and family have the chance to move from UK to Vancouver but just a few things i forgot to ask sponsor . in uk we have national health service what do you have over there and do you need to join a union in the building trade .

There is health care in BC. You get it by paying MSP (medical service plan) premiums, which are around $600 per year per person. These cover hospitals and doctors, but not prescriptions or dentists which you have to pay for yourself. Most people have additional cover for this through work.

Also, there is a 2-3 month wait for cover, so you have to have private medical insurance for that period. Blue cross or some other insurance company do this kind of thing.

It depends, is the not very helpful answer. Smaller companies tend to be non-union but some of the bigger ones are. Some trades (crane operators I believe are one) are employed by the union which hires them out to contractors.
