Britain has won a medal in every Olympics since the sport was introduced in 2002. 2 gold, one silver and a bronze.

Totally gutted Patrick Chan didn't manage the Gold... but still awesome to score a Silver!! (Well, with one skater left...)

The Japanese skater had two full falls; Chan had 3 "trips", no full on falls (one hands down, two step outs)... so in terms of deductions, Hanyu had 2 full points deducted, Chan had zero... however, Hanyu had a more technical program and picked up more points for what he did land. He's strategic, he does a lot of jumps in the second half of the program, which earn 10% more points, and that's what ended up making the difference.

Chan was well ahead of the Kazakh that finished third.

Well done Patrick!
Silver is still a fantastic result, really happy for him.

And what a nice story for Japan as well, having never won an Olympic medal - of any colour - in figure skating. I'm watching the flower ceremony now, Hanyu looks simply elated. Really nice to see.

(And pangs of disappointment on Patrick Chan's face for sure, he definitely looks disappointed.)

If you know any (non Russian) people from the former Soviet Union you'll know what it means to them to see Russia get a shit kicking, especially if it's administered by one of their own countries. Years ago when they lost a hockey tournament to the Czechs a pair of Czech and Polish girls I knew were both ecstatic. Slovakia - Russia 4 -2 would make all their little faces light up! But Canada beating Russia would do that too.

I've worked with a lot of Russians over the years and found them likeable, forthright and courageous I can't say I've found the same working here, so I'm cheering for the Russians.

The big guns will come out in the finals, that's when the test is.
What's a tank?
A car a Russian drives when visiting friends.
