There's multiple tiers of license - G1 (8 months if you do drivers ed) where you have to have a fully licensed adult in the car with you and you can't drive on the motorway, then you do a road test and if you pass you get a G2 (1 year) , which is basically the same as a full license except your BAC has to be 0, and there are passenger restrictions between midnight-5am.

Then you do another road test and get your full G, which is your full license. (5 year renewable license)

TL;DR - getting a driving license is a pain in the arse

It was way easier back in the olden days of the late 90's.... Well I wasn't in Ontario but California has this tiered license thing now too, when I got mine, just needed to have a learners permit for 6 months which required the written test, then after 6 months but before 12 months, you took your driving test, and if you passed, full license....

And it's odd because you would think with all these Playstation driving games, that the kids already have a good idea about driving before they get behind the wheel.

Don't even get me started on that You can also add some adults into that group. Do Canadians even learn how to do hill incline/decline starts when driving a standard?

I took my driving test in Tennessee in a car park. It consisted of driving around one cone and then backing into a parking bay. Motorbike test was the same except no reversing or parking required. I passed both.

There's apparently a game whereby you can join lots of sweets together and they disappear if that helps? I find eating them easier but whatevs.

Here you go:

Though I recommend not having a barcode tattooed on the back of your head, as it might be a bit of a giveaway when you're trying to disguise yourself.

That's okay, my hat will cover it.

Bit of a dull name though. The Jackal has a much better ring to it.

Yeah... I could see it being learners permit, then 6 mos later road test/full license. That's a good compromise compared to the way it is now, which IMO is too much hassle. I don't see the need for the second road test.

Haha... I was one of those kids. Loved driving games until I actually started to drive, lol. I can't say they really helped.

Nope. And i'm probably the only kid whos grown up here that actually wants to learn standard, but its impossible. Nobody has one, the driving schools don't have one, and the only places to learn are specialised schools (such as Shifters in Toronto) but they're bloody expensive!

I just bought a standard. Can't you learn how to drive one through a relative/friend who has one? You are lucky that the driving test in Canada doesn't exclude you from driving a standard if you take your test on an automatic.
