So go ahead and Sue me.

I think many of us have come to the conclusion that being born in the USA or living there does something to your brain cells when it comes to the art of suing people for whatever and any reason known to mankind.
Sadly even the UK and Canada have followed along albeit to a lesser degree.
Now Im not saying some people don't deserve to be sued or held accountable to their actions and if harmed by those actions take appropriate action but where do we draw the line.
Anyone remember the incident in Sept last year in Tennessee that went viral across the world due to social media. Basically a waitress at a Red Lobster posted online a receipt with the N word written on it and no tip left.
Obviously people were outraged and to make matters worse the receipt had the persons name on it which needless to say resulted in death threats once the identity was established. A website was set up for the waitress where people could donate and over $10,000 was raised as a tip for her.
Fast forward to today well it now appears that the customer did not write the offending word and is now suing the waitress and Red Lobster for a million dollars.

There again that is trivial compared to this one.
Man files lawsuit for $2,000 decillion (that's 36 zeros) after being bitten by a dog and having his photograph taken by a Chinese couple

Knowing what I know now I sometimes think why didn't I become a lawyer.
So Sir/Madame you want to sue the CBC for a gazillion dollars because they moved the start time of Coronation Street. OK that will be $400 dollars an hour and I don't accept personal cheques.

I don't think the Red Lobster guy is being frivolous. By bringing the suit he has drawn attention to this and that he didn't write the word.

Albeit poorly, but Canada copies everything it does so it must rather.

I think the lawsuit is reasonable if he indeed did not write it and was blamed for it.

Would you not sue if someone slandered you and released your personal information on the internet for their own financial gain?

*Libel*? The two are not the same.
Although I admit not to have had enough interest to read the case.
