I downloaded a free app called Medito which is quite good but I think I should try a couple. The Mindfulness Movement recordings on YouTube were recommended to me but the ads are annoying.

I don't think so, no. At the time when I started subscribing I was feeling a bit drastic and was looking for anything as a sticking plaster.

It's 5.23 here now, and I've been lying in bed, emptying my mind and controlling my breathing for the past three hours and have just thrown the towel in.

I am pretty damned determined to take steps to improve this, but I'm just not sure which ones! I take Melatonin, those new 'Sleep Gummies' that Costco is flogging and a pill but nothing makes me sleep...I have become so anxious about not sleeping, that I simply can't sleep!

Rather annoyingly my husband could sleep, quietly, deeply and soundly if you pegged him up on the clothesline...

Sounds like most of us are a bunch of insomniacs!! A few band aids have been offered up there though...

Re: Sleep

Sleep hygiene also very important.
routine is key.
no caffeine in evening. No screen time for an hour before bedtime
cool quiet room
if you aren’t asleep within 30 mins. Get up
try again later

Re: Sleep

I've read that the most effective treatment for insomnia is CBT-I. There's a practitioner in Vancouver who I've talked to but not booked any sessions with I think it's all done remotely.

A doctor told me that for sleeping CBD oil should have at keast a 30% thc content i don't know if that's true.

really sorry to read others are having problems too but so very grateful I'm not alone

I thought I was the only one suffering from bouts of sleeplessness. I'd give anything to sleep 8-10 hours.

Re: Sleep

I was up until 3am pacific time, then back up at 7:50am. I think sometimes on nights like this it would be better to just stay up, doesn't help that my quality of sleep was very poor and kept waking up for short periods from weird dreams.

If I can drop off soon and sleep till 5 that would be nice, so going to try some 50/50 cbd-thc tincture.

Just wondering: did the CBD tincture work?

It did, (50% cbc, 50% thc) but I took a double dose (which isn't much), and it wasn't immediate. I think I got my few hours and woke up around 6. I have a high tolerance so this isn't going to be the average outcome. It's great stuff, but from what I've seen is expensive even in the grey market (around $80/vial). Because of the thc, you can feel it working, which is nice. You hold it under your tongue to absorb through a gland, same as the oil. I can often get a pass for a few hours sleep just by taking 20mg of my favourite gummy, but I'm still going to be sad when the tincture is gone.

A GP told me it needs to have at least 30% thc to enable sleep.

Because I'm trying to treat pain and insomnia, the marijuana I buy is almost all Indica or Indica-dominant hybrid strains with a fairly high thc content. Someone gave me some medical grade Burmese Kush once that was so good, after the first puff I could literally feel my eyelids closing.

I was in denial last night. Woke up at 3am and didn’t get back to sleep until 6:30am. Thankfully my schedule allowed me to just sleep in. I have tinnitus so that doesn’t help things.
I read all your comments and almost responded but as I was in denial I didn’t.
It’s now 9:45pm and I’m knackered. So I’m off to bed where hopefully I’ll fall in to a deep sleep to compensate for yesterday.
Good night All...

night night, sleep tight, if the bed bugs bite...scratch them.

Re: Sleep

It's interesting in a way what can wake a person up, every morning at 1am the sprinklers some on outside to water the grass, and its not even loud, but it wakes me every morning....

If you can handle the high from THC, I found 10mg THC in gummies to be helpful, but does get costly and not really suitable for daily use.

Re: Sleep

I think I'd only take a CBD oil with practically no THC in it.

Re: Sleep

Personally I would exhaust the behaviour modification route before i medicated ( not that I have anything against medication where necessary)

it’s not sexy advice but the sleep hygiene route works
no caffeine in the pm
no alcohol late at night
cool quiet room
pre sleep routine
no screen time for at least an hour pre bedtime

i know it sounds boring and hard work but it’s the most effective method I’ve found to date

unfortunately My pre sleep routine that worked amazingly well for me is no longer possible and that’s why I’m suffering at the moment
