Sleep

Re: Sleep
That one did absolutely nothing for her. It was like taking nothing. Hence the change to Zolpidem.
I wish I could remember the name of the one she changed to.
Have you tried CBC Radio One? Works for me.

Re: Sleep
I usually get up between 5:30 am and 6:30 am, depending on who I am watching (age, worker ect) I never go to bed before midnight.
If I have a day off I set my alarm for 9 ish, otherwise I would just sleep till noon.

Re: Sleep
Going to sleep is the *worst* . I have no useful advice.
Being single means I don't disturb anyone else when I get up/ wander around in the middle of the night; I've found - over the years- that not forcing myself to stay in bed trying to fall asleep helps. A good book & the sofa often does the trick.
As I mentioned up thread, I wake up between 4-5 am, WHATEVER time I actually GET to sleep.
Eventually, one learns to live with/compensate for dodgy sleep patterns....

Working somewhat unsocial hours 6 days a week (anytime from 1pm to 3am), I rarely get to sleep before 5am and sometimes as late as 9am. I have great difficulty switching my brain off and whilst I 'normally' finish work by 3am, it takes me quite a while to unwind. I often drop off to sleep and wake 15-30 minutes later and am then wide awake again for another 3-4 hours.
Generally I sleep (off and on) for between 5 and 7 hours although some days it's as little as 4, however, about once a month I will sleep 12 hours straight. I do use an alarm clock if I need to get up for an early shift (well, early for me!) but otherwise I try and wake up naturally. It takes me at least an hour and a half (and several strong mugs of coffee) to wake up enough to be able to function mentally, lol.
I also find that some food items and/or additives affect my ability to sleep; eat the wrong thing and I can be wide awake (even though I am tired) and have absolutely no chance of going to sleep for at least 8-10 hours after I have eaten.

Re: Sleep
I find these days sleep is a very mixed, bag sometimes I can not switch off and my brain is just whirring along and so sometimes 3 hours, sometimes 6 hours. If I wake up earlier than planned then Im up as I can not get back to sleep again.

Re: Sleep
Try listening to a podcast or lecture/interview in You Tube with headphones. Even when I am fascinated by the topic, I find on most occasions it knocks me out in 5-10 minutes. Listening only.

Re: Sleep
Back in the UK I would go to sleep to whatever was on Radio 5 Live, with the timer set to turn off after about 30 minutes. If I woke, I reached out and reset it again. Now it's CBC radio.
But won't headphones wake you up when you turn over?
(obviously you need to consider anyone else)

If you're ever asleep and have a dream that you're going to the bathroom don't do it, it's a trick!

Re: Sleep
I have recurring dreams where I need to go but the toilet is out of order, occupied, broken, sometimes it's free but then there's no actual lav in there , or if I find some alternative place to go there are people there or just am about to go someone arrives so I abort......
