SHOPPING - BIG SALES??? WHEN?

We just arrived almost 2 weeks ago, and have so much to sort out and find...

Now we got a place to live, we are looking at what we need to add in it, and primo - a TV! (got 2 children+1 husband+1 wife deprived of french channel for 10 years!!!)

Kidding apart, we are seing that SEARS advertises "1 DAY SALE ONLY" (and it's today...) - don't they do January sales? (like in Europe?)

Mind for the TV anyway we'd have to buy it before xmas, as soon as possible actually.

(we need to get a TV (needs to be a flat screen, LOL), table + 4 chairs, towels, linnens, something to sleep on, a microwave... )

Re: SHOPPING - BIG SALES??? WHEN?

Sears have a sale practically every weekend. Canada traditionally has big boxing day sales (which start online on Christmas day for some retaillers.) Today is 'Black Friday' in the US which is the largest day for retail sales in the year. Monday is 'Cyber Monday' where supposedly all the online retaillers are coming out with the big deals.

Redflagdeals is good website for Canadian bargain hunters: http://www.redflagdeals.com/

Certainly get into Sears, they did have a rather good sale on TV's last weekend and it's possible it might be going on this weekend too.

I don't think Canada does the Black Friday thing, but if you happened to be near the US border you could pop over and splurge, but you'll need to declare purchases at the border and pay duties on it, but it could still work out cheaper than buying it in Canada.

Canada and the USA don't have Thanksgiving on the same day. The US one was yesterday and most people are probably not at work today. Canada's was last month.

A lot of the stores are having sales this weekend as a tag on to the US Black Friday sales (traditionally the biggest shopping day before xmas in the US). For example the store I work in (Eddie Bauer) are having 25% off everything in store this weekend and giving away Bauer bucks for a return visit (I don't remember them doing it before). According to the fliers I was looking through last night, most of the major chains have something going on this weekend, as for Sears - every weekend there is some sort of sale at Sears, if something you want isn't on sale wait until next week:rolleyes:

To answer your question, YES there are huge after Christmas sales, some of which begin in the week before Christmas.
