I've given an 8/10 myself. Gone well, would have been better if I'd been at home a bit more and and work a bit less.

first half , about a 3 , second half getting close to a ten. So I've averaged it out at a seven !!!!!

Months 1 to 8 selling and moving house = 2/8 months 9 to 12 here and bad at first, but getting better so = 7/10. Overall a 6/10 sort of a year.

Year of two halves, this one.
From Christmas until about June, it was pretty disastrous and going downhill:(.
Crisis with housing in June.
Resolution in July.
Uphill all the way from there:thumbup:

I give my 2012 an eight because of the huge the overall improvement from last Christmas to this one:p.

2012 was a mixed bag for me, could have been better, but could have been a lot worse, overall an 8.

You might miss your chance to tell us, if their predictions are correct, whether it has ruined your year or actually improved it.:p

I gave it a nine. We're not living in a caravan in the garden anymore, so frankly it's a vast improvement on this time last year. Maybe next Christmas I might even have a kitchen too, and then it'll be a 10.

Overall, it's been a healthy and happy year.

Dad died of brain tumour in Feb, then my dog died from a surgery complication in October.
My year was shit.
But bring on 2013 :)

Unlike the OP, they at least they understood the concept of zero.

I figured if you'd had a year that was zero out of ten, then not being able to find a zero option to vote for would just be the icing on the cake.

9/10 from me. Emigrating has worked out well but was quite stressful at the time. Probably looking back on 2012 as a bit more rosey than it was tho because the 2 years before that were simply awful what with one thing and another.

Re: Score Your 2012 out of 10

In January our youngest daughter was born.
In February Mrs AX was very ill such that we feared for her life.
In September we started down a road of tests and therapy with our youngest in response to some developmental concerns. Those included brain MRI and tests for some truly worrying conditions...all of which mercifully came back negative.

In December I have two bright, happy, beautiful daughters, the youngest of which is making excellent progress, and a healthy wife. So I have to score this year a ten.

It has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster though.

Considering that you're a nice bloke, I'll risk the the Revenge of the Mayans and vote for a 10 too.

Pretty good year for me, significantly higher ups than downs. Didn't get fired (based on re-reading of the anxieties thread) and in fact got promoted at work.

On the negative side, tons of family problems back home.
On the positive, life in Canada is very good, and don't live back home.

Re: Score Your 2012 out of 10

Very sad to see a lot of under fives on this vote:(

I really hope that those posters who have had a genuinely difficult year have a MUCH improved year in 2013.

However, I know that there are some people on this forum who wouldn't be satisfied with their life whatever happened or wherever they lived because they are just inherently miserable.
Those people will be just as miserable in 2013 and their only pleasure will be moaning about how much worse it is than 2012.

Maybe there should be negative numbers for them:p:p.

Re: Score Your 2012 out of 10

In the last 18 months my life has turned around on every level!

My wife and I received the news that her sister got herself pregnant mid 2011 so after careful consideration we decided to offer her a place to live (her situation was going to be either a single mother living on her own in Calgary or us supporting her in Winnipeg).

So with that decision we ended up buying a new house in September 2011 (5 bedrooms as oppose to 3 and we ended up with a live in niece! The rest of the year went by pretty uneventfully. In January we found out that some foster children we were doing relief work for were being taken away from their foster parent and the agency asked us if we would take them full time, to which again after careful consideration we agreed to. My wife quit her job and became a stay at home mum and the kids moved into our house in April! So now my 5 bedroom house is fully occupied and we ended up buying a minivan to help with the burden.

In the summer after sending what must have been close to 1000 resumes across various companies over a 4 year period I finally got a call asking me for an interview. Interview lasted around 2 hours and I was offered the job, I took a few days to think it all over and offered my resignation to my previous employer and we departed on very civil terms.

Between jobs I went back home to see family & friends, whilst there I found out that my best friend was getting married next year and asked if I would be his best man (costly trip in 2013 up and coming).

When I got back I started my new job where I am currently awaiting work still (3 months later)! So I have had a miserable start in the beginning of my new career but hopefully things will pick up soon as I get quite frustrated coming in for 40 hours/week doing nothing.

Recently my old car died and have picked myself up a new Kia Rio, so far no problems quite a little gem of a car. I have put the concrete pad down for a new double garage (to be built in the spring) and I am coming to the end of the basement renovations (hopefully just before christmas if not slightly after).

So how do I score 2012? With renewed hope and optimism I would score it 8/10 the major downfall being my workload.

Loving the full household I feel it's what I needed to make Canada more homely for me.

No "roller-coasters" here. I'd have to say 10.
Life has been very good to me and I enjoy every day. I am eternally grateful for my pretty much stress and worry free lot in life, especially now that my son is back from Afghanistan.
I can now even get Fullers ESB, "Chiswick Nectar" from my local supermarket ! Must be good eh ! :)
Don't sweat the small stuff as they say.

Bit of a downer since literally losing our dog, so a solid 7 would be in order.

I was going to point out this on the anxiety thread but still. Sausage rolls and now at this time of year, mince pies, add a comforting glow to balance out the negative elements of life.

And if those don't work, then I'd also like to give a shout out to a shot of tequila or brandy and a couple Xanax. A magical combination.
