Oh God Atlantic Expat....you might have warned me....I'm having a very boring afternoon in a sepulcharally quiet office, looked at this and had to exit quick to the toilet to laugh. Thank you so very much it's wonderful!

Good news - no wind in Uranium City! We're being eased into it this year, thank goodness.

I'd rather have -20 with no wind than -10 with wind chill to -20. The wind is the worst.

After last winters hideousness in the peg that sounds about right - by the end we were getting to the point we were looking at the Weather network and were just delighted if there were no environmental frostbite warnings for the day.

If there is any ice or snow on Regina's Ring Road I go through town and stay the heck off of it because people go too fast and when they wipe out they take 4 other cars with them.
This 5 car pile up just happened.

Fortunately not. I saw that story on the news web site and decided to stay late at work, until the roads were less busy.

I pretty much find anything below -10 to be cold, and really can't tell much difference between -10 and -30, its damn cold regardless and feels the same to me.

Much like when in the desert, once above around 100F its just hot no matter what the numbers say.

I'd still take the cold with sun over warmer but cloudy and rainy weeks on end.

Sun is most important thing to have in winter in my opinion, going weeks without it really brings you down.

An interesting point. There is a difference between daylight hours and hours of sun of course, but virtually all of Canada's population west of the Great Lakes lives not too far from the 49th parallel.

As I'm sure you know, the length of the day (on any date) depends only on your latitude.

Now, going east to Europe, the 49th parallel runs right through Paris's main airport (CDG).

Thus, most western Canadians experience longer days in winter than all UK residents, (except the ones in the Channel Islands).

Thank goodness for the soon to fail Gulf Stream.
