Salt. . . .???
I used to buy Tesco's table salt, it was my family's favourite before I left for a new life. Can you get it over here? Any suggestions now I'm in Canada?

Thats a tough one and I feel your pain, longing for the familiarity of days gone by is totally normal.
You have a couple of options, you can either get some shipped over, or you can try Walmart - i'm sure they do free flow salt in a box - so whilst its not the same as a plastic tub - you can close your eyes, grab some lemon and tequila and pretend you are back there again.

Salt is salt, just go to your nearest store, buy some and then get on with your life.

I've got some sifto salt - it's Canadian made and tastes fresher than that crap you get in your typical british supermarkets. It's one of the reasons I emigrated.

Well this thread gave me a good laugh before going to bed.
...the sad thing is a while ago I did get slightly excited when I saw Sea Salt in a plastic container like that in Santa Barbara instead of the boxed salt you usually see in supermarkets here.

For a suitable donation I could ship you some over? Do you also need Marmite, Weetabix, and Cadburys etc?

In the main they are bloody marvellous, loving being back here.
Issues with a seriously ill parent in France is not quite so good, so job hunting is on hold whilst I trot backwards and forwards.
That is a just a rumour, I am not finding it so bad, really!
I guess that could be the area I am in, but I have seen none of what is portrayed in the media.
I saw the same sort of thing in Canada, nowhere is Utopia, you make the best of what is around you.

Pleased you are enjoying it, I would consider coming back to the UK when I am older, depends on what the children and grandchildren are doing. Of course I have to get to Canada first! It is all about the perception, for sure it is better than many parts of the world I have travelled, many out there would give there back teeth to live in UK.
I bet we have a shortage of salt in UK this winter, we ran out in the shops last year. Everyone was putting it down on the paths because broken britain councils ran out of rock/grit salt.
Enough of my rambling...
