The international media coverage is not, and never has been, about the politics - nor would this be a story at all if politics was all there was to it. No, this is a human story of a powerful man being brought low by his own stupidity, and refusing to acknowledge the enormity of the hole he's in.

Toronto is Canada's largest city. Imagine the international attention if this was Boris. Hell, he was even all over the TV last year when he got stuck on that stupid zipline thing during the Olympics. What would the world's media do with a story about him and drugs, gangs, booze, murder and extortion?

Most people beyond Ontario (let's face it, most people within Ontario too) don't give a stuff about the gas plants. SO some politicians wasted some tax money. And in other news, a bear took a dump today in a forested area. And it was revealed that the Pope may well, in fact, be a Catholic.
I do understand, I`m not sticking up for the guy, apart from his news value I don`t see how he can stay on. Its the fact that his fall from grace suits The Guardian`s agenda, the gas plant story wouldn`t although if Rob Ford was reponsible for it there would be a fair chance The Guardian would report it.
The Boris story was during the Olympics, the worlds premier all rounds sports competition, once in a 4 year event, in one of the worlds major cities and Toronto is......a city in Canada where next to ***** all ever happens. They report about a new royal doll here. The taffia remark was just comparing the boyos in the hood, doing whatever illegal activity they do.

Had it been a photo of him in his teens or early 20's then it would be OK, we all make mistakes when young and experimenting is part of growing up.

It wasn't though, its recent and while he is serving in a public position.

He's in charge of the police, how can the police arrest someone for possession when their boss is a known user.

The fact he won't resign just shows off his low morals, can't understand anyone who sticks up for him.

Things may go downhill for him rapidly now, but there's supposed to be one more video.

As mayor hes also "Chief Magistrate" of Toronto...

Im guessing the people who framed the laws never suspected that these circumstances would apply to an elected mayor, so there is no legal framework to give him the boot. We must rely on either his conscience or the electorate to see to his departure. Fat chance of the former, slim chance of the later.
