RIP Leslie Nielsen

One of Reginas favourite sons, and star of one of my favourite movies of all time. Leslie Nielsen passed away in Florida yesterday.

Leslie Nielsen has died after a 2 week illness in hospital. When asked what it was, a spokesman said, "It's a big building with lots of patients and doctors, but that's not important right now."

It's hard to believe that such a funny man, a very gifted clown, had a brother who was a totally humorless Canadian parliamentarian. Eric Nielsen was the member for Yellowknife for many years and was known as "Old Velcro Lips" because of his ability to keep shtum even under intense pressure in The House or from the Press.

I think Charlie Sheen used him as his role model when playing Topper Harley in the Top Gun spoofs Hot Shots. Not as good, though.
