Default Chrome OS on a stick (Attn: Geeks)

I'm pondering an Asus Chrome OS stick as the family prezzy to self. I believe you plug this into the TV and it turns it into a computer, or a media computer at least.

Does this mean we could used Android apps on it, or is chrome OS something different?

Ideally I'd like to download games to play with microwheel- Baldurs Gate and Civ to name 2.

As it's a smart TV already we can get youtube etc but that's wearing a bit thin. And yah already have Bluetooth keyboard...

Chromebit is a Chromebook on a stick.

It turns your TV in to a monitor for the Chromebit. That is all...

ChromeOS is different. Google is (gradually) providing better compatibility for Android apps to run on some ChromeOS devices, but (of course) neither of the two Chromebooks my family has are yet on "the list" of compatible devices. By no means all ChromeOS devices can run Android apps, but some can, and some apps seem to be more portable than others. Caveat emptor...

I can't see with a quick search whether the Asus Chromebit is able to run Android apps. It sounds as though, from the way you describe what you want to do, an inability to run apps would be a dealbreaker. I'll let somebody with better googling skills than I have (or who already has a Chromebit) provide a more sensible answer...

Thanks Messrs Oak + Weetabix.

Yeah, I think it will take someone who's used it. If it doesn't work I'll get 12 months Netflix but something gamey is really whats called for.

Maybe if I drill into the games I specifically want to run...

Amazon Firestick has some games on it.

Asus Chromebook seems to be getting better with Android app capability, especially Spotify which is all that counts for me.
