Wasn't in the correct city at the time, or close enough to a city that offered the training, only like 3 schools in the entire province that offers it.

May have also been around the time my wife was manic and I was working 12 hours a day at the airport and also taking care of her needs, I can't remember for sure though.

It's a domino effect pushes the problem further and further out until in some places there isn't anywhere else to push it and pretty much everywhere becomes expensive, pushing the can down the road isn't a solution.

I remember when Hamilton was always mentioned as the place to move to for cheaper housing, and now seems its no longer true.

Squamish 10 years ago had dirt cheap rent, $650 for a brand new apartment, now 2,000 a month for a new apartment, and 1,500+ for older apartments.

Incomes certainly didn't climb at that same pace.

And then people act surprised when their parks turn into homeless camps and every year the problem grows worse and worse. Doesn't help that both general assistance and disability is far below any reasonable level a human can survive on in BC and elsewhere, its pretty common problem coast to coast.

Oh average rent is 1,400 a month, here is $375 now go find housing. <<<< government logic

Real Estate agents low ball the valuation on purpose to create a bidding war to drive prices up. It’s been going on in Toronto for a number of years.

Happens in the Lower Mainland & Fraser Valley and other hot markets like Kelowna and Squamish as well.

it’s def happening in the lower mainland (Vancouver) Townhomes up for $619k going for $660k and then others up for around $680/$690k and selling for an eye watering $820k!!!!

This was all through bidding wars based on 2 properties we went to view

It seems that housing has become an insoluble issue in all the great cities of the World. London is certainly awful. Canada is not alone.

West end and pretty nice renovations, looks nicer than many brand new builds, I can see why it sold 24% over asking. Old building though. But the renovations and location are certainly good.

Some truly insane prices in my neighbourhood. Just 3 bed 2 bathroom ranchers on a regular sized lot selling for over a million $. I paid less than $900k for my 4 bed 3 bathroom house last year so I don't know what the heck is wrong with people. Complete mania.

And this is a good example why the burbs are not necessarily affordable anymore, but the mantra can't afford the city move to the burbs doesn't really work, the burbs are hella expensive too and depending on industry one may not be able to find a comparable job in the burbs and now have to commute by car with added costs, domino effect at play.

Hell even Chilliwack is fairly pricey these days. I can't believe the building I first lived in back in 2004 for $475 per month can rent now for 1,200 a month, the place is still a dump and based on photo has had 0 upgrades since I lived there in 2004-06..

Very true, the #donthave1million hashtag started in 2015 now extends over pretty much the whole of metro vancouver. It's completely out of control and the causes need to be rectified.

Even prices in small towns can be expensive, sure cheaper than Vancouver region but still expensive, Penticton comes to mind as one such small town.
