We had that here in BC years ago, 2 litre bags, and special jug needed to hold the opened bag, or else milk all over the fridge.

The milk didn't taste good either, so people soon switched back to cartons.

The company that produced the milk in bags held on for quite some time but eventually gave up.

I think we still have the jug somewhere!

Still sold in bags here. Fortunately cartons and bottles too.

I remember milk in bottles with cardboard tops with pull tabs, and a layer of cream right at the top.

Never add blueberries to muesli.

They go very nicely in some cereals, especially multi-grain cheerios where the cold milk really does something to them and they explode in your mouth like cherry tomatoes do.

But I just discovered they do not go with muesli.

’top of the milk’ was strictly for my mother when I was a kid. Foil tops though.

Well the heat was fixed for 2 days, went out today, and its back on.

I don't think the handy person who comes to fix it, and tinkers around a bit, actually is fixing anything, maybe time to send in a heating professional.

Replaced the thermostat again, well that didn't work last time for more than 2 days, and I doubt the brand new thermostat you put in back in May is the problem, whatever is supposed to keep the hot water from flowing seems to be the problem whatever that might be, assuming a valve or something somewhere.

Got a notice on the door today, on September 9th the complex will have no hot water due to needing to fix the heating system, so seems its probably not an issue with our unit, but the entire system, will suck not to have hot water for 12 hours, but eh better than baking, although now summer is over nearly, but hey better than never.

That's how ours came when I was a kid. Delivered to the door by the milk man. Same cardboard top and layer of cream for Dad's coffee. Wash out the bottles when finished, replaced in the crate at the door for pickup the next day.

This was something that happened annually when I lived in an apartment building. At the end of summer, one evening the boiler/furnance would be shut down so it could be worked on the next day. Around 4 that next afternoon, it was operational again but the water was lukewarm until later that evening.

I made a gin and tonic and thought of the Gin Drinker's Line in Hong Kong, and my friend's late dad (and I guess my friend) George who was a Winnipeg Grenadier captured in Dec '41 and spent the next almost 5 years working like a slave and starving somewhere near Osaka. What a nice man. Time for gin number 3. Cheers, George!

Canadian Tire for real had 5 gallons of hand sanitizer last year (maybe still) it $200 something for the bucket, but if broken down to the size of the $3 bottles, it did work out cheaper by a fair amount per bottle than buying smaller bottles if your the sort who can buy bulk savings to be made.
