We have knobs at the halfway point and corners of the deck rail. Like the top part of Chess Pawns.
When it snows, the way the snow sits on top and "makes shoulders" around the neck always reminds me of Queen Victoria.
Today one of them makes me think of Louis XIV (except white hair/wig obviously). Or is it Brian May?

We just put our tree up today. On NYD it will go down.
I work at shoppers. Each time I hear "Last christmas" the rage builds up a little more, lol.

Someone, holding a lethal dose of pills, said to me "I'm going to take these".
"Surely not" I thought but I said "go on then". I was thinking it's a bluff and anyway if it happens, I'm right here, finger down throat, no harm done. I misjudged the degree of intent and I didn't know then that was such a thing as sublingual pills.
Given the time again I would not be flippant.

Years ago, on vacation with a bunch of mates, and while making dinner, one of the girls said: "anything I can do to help?".
In true Fawlty Towers mode, I responded: "yes; kill yourself."
Then I remembered, slightly too late, that her father had topped himself a couple of years earlier...........

So the xmas music at work got you in the mood then
We don't usually put our tree up until mid December but we're trying it in a different place this year (so we can see it instead of passers by seeing it through the window) and I'm a bit keen to see what it's like, so maybe in a day or two.

He did tell me that they played the 'border security' song quite loudly a few days ago....he knew it as that, I knew it as an 80's Eurythmics song.

Went to Kelowna today, spent half hour there, then back home. Nice drive though, so much nice snow on the mountains, mostly clear skies, and some chilly temps on the mountain highway....
No snow luckily on the highways so an easy drive.
