I agree...killing animals for their beautiful coats is outrageous. Nowadays faux fur is so realistic...looks and feels like the real thing.

Only beautiful animals and ugly people wear fur.

i agree totally. But I was amazed to hear just how many are farmed. -millions in Denmark were the start. Who buys it all? I have never seen someone in a fur coat, since a friend of my Mum’s in the 80s. And that definitely wasn’t mink.

What is your opinion on goose down jackets? never really thought of it until now, but I own two goose down jackets. Not sure how many geese were killed in the making of it, but it must add up.

I looked it up.

Seems live plucking might still be a thing over in China, and 80% of the worlds supply of down comes from China, yeah lets just say it doesn't look good for the animal, and its as bad as it sounds, and the poor animal has to go through it several times as when the feathers grow back, they repeat it.

I don't have anything with down in it, and even the responsible down certification companies have on products may not be worth anything as supply chain it can co-mingle with non-live plucked down and hard to know if down is truly not live plucked.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/a-foul-...nd-comforters/

It is a report based on PETA but does seem to have some truth to it.

that’s actually quite shocking. I don’t have a down jacket, mainly because I am too cheap to pay so much for something to walk the dog in (amazes me the number of parents who shell out for Canada goose for elementary kids)
But I do have a down duvet, which was a present, and thank goodness I have a machine big enough to wash it now, because I am not sure I could buy a replacement knowing that.

I wonder in general how much stuff I would actually buy if I knew the real cost of it to the world at large

I hope it didn't get lost. Still no scan beyond the original drop off scan Monday.

I find the people who often wear Canada goose jackets which I assume keeps them toasty warm rarely wear hats and trudge through the snow in trainers or standard shoes, but rarely winter boots and then they wonder why their feet are cold and wet. They seem to be the ultimate status symbol.

I haven't had to wear boots yet this year. The Hutterites here sell a lot of goose down quilts, but they also sell a lot of geese, so I wonder if they're live plucking theirs?

Still no scan on my express post letter sent Monday. The Amazon return I sent at the same time was scanned and delivered yesterday.

Hopefully they just forgot to scan it and it will be delivered today still.

Hubby’s Christmas pressie was delivered today by UPS. Although the store said I would receive an email with tracking details from UPS...I never received said email.

It's been scanned finally in Richmond, and now delivery say's December 16, I mailed it on Dec 7th, and was supposed to be there today.

Lesson learned, never use Canada Post.

If it's taking this long for "express" post how long is regular mail taking? Squamish is only a 4 hour drive away, not like it had to travel to far reaches of Canada.

So for it to be delivered on time (according to pre-pandemic standard) it would have to be processed and sent out for delivery today.

They must be prioritizing parcels at the expense of non-parcels because the Amazon return sent the same day, same post office at the same time, was delivered.

Pre-pandemic it was a 2 business day service standard for Xpress post within Southern BC, they raised it to 3 business days a couple months ago, but they seem to not even be able meet that standard. If they would be honest and say they can't deliver in a timely manner, I'd have saved the 15 bucks, and bought a stamp...

It's not getting there today, experience once scanned as processed in Richmond, it takes another 2 to 4 business days to get to the local post office for delivery.

It wasn't super urgent as in needs to be there 9am next day, but it also needed to be there by the end of the week, which Canada Post said they could do.
