In my family its always been said that nothing's expected until i'm independent and have a career.
Design then print off cards on the computer - there's lots of templates available online for free.

Buy gifts from the dollar store, or chocolates (or make something) or go to Adele and get 3 or 5 things for $15, put them in $1 bags using $1 for 30 sheets of tissue paper.

If his family biatch about the gifts, he should tell them 'what do you expect when I only have $40!'

Grumble, grumble, bah humbug.
The only gifts i buy are stocking ingredients for my husband. My Mum gets flowers as she insists on not having gifts. We have no children. Nieces and nephews over 18. We decided with siblings and friends that buying something that wasn't needed and receiving same was a waste. So we are gift exempt.

Almost at Bats level gift wise. OH and I tend to have a little something to open and we put the money saved towards a trip. OH has already bought himself his Xmas gift or two, or that's what he called the last car eek.

On another note, found out nephew had major emergency surgery today (via his martial arts group) OH backed a truck into a truck at work and our passport applications were returned because our guarantor didn't sign the supporting documents, we have flights booked for 1st Dec, all in all a spiffing day!

Few small changes at ours

At Christmas wife & I dont share gifts, our 2 kids get money (as they do anyway through the year), kids give us restraunt gift cards then end up coming with us so we have to pay anyway, my FIL gets a sweater (must have close to 50 of those now) & a bottle of Scotch.

Birthdays similar process, other than for me & the missus its flowers for her, a meal out - for me its usually either underwear, socks or a golf type shirt + her treat me to takaway grub.

Kids just send me & the wife cards for our birthday

So how many times does 9 go into boxes and boxes? What will you do with the spares? Make gift tags?

I bought two blocks of xmas cake from Superstore today (not light and not the really dark ones)

I have injected Canadian Club Whisky, from one of the miniatures the liquor store keeps attaching to my Scotch Whisky, using one of my no longer used insulin syringes.

I injected half a dozen places.

Last time I drank Canadian Club, and before that Bourbon, I had double vision. At least I might get two slices out of it.

Today isn't a good day.

Wife worked for a large US based company in Canada, and left and their US office has no idea what a record of employment is...lol.. Joys of companies having no local HR folks I suppose.

Let's Offend Everyone!

I came out of the shop with a meat and potato pie, large chips, mushy peas & a jumbo sausage.
A poor homeless man sat there and said “I've not eaten for two days.”
I told him “I wish I had your will power”!

I took my Biology exam last Friday.
I was asked to name two things commonly found in cells.
Apparently "Blacks" and "Romanian gypsies" were not the correct answers.

A largish girl served me in McDonald's at lunch time. She said “sorry about the wait.”
I said 'don't worry dear, you're bound to lose it eventually'.

I walked past a black kid sitting at a bus stop as I went into the bank.
When I came out, he looked at me and said “Any Change?”
I said 'Nope, you're still black'

Snow in the forecast!
The TV weather girl said she was expecting 8 inches tonight.
I thought to myself, fat chance with a face like that!

An Irish boy stands crying at the side of the road.
A man asks What is wrong?
The boy says me Ma is dead.
Oh bejaysus the man says “Do you want me to call Father O' Riley for you”?
The boy replies “No tanks mister, sex is the last ting on my mind at the moment”.

Years ago it was suggested that an apple a day kept the doctor away...
But since all the doctors are now Muslim, I've found that a bacon sandwich works best!

Japanese scientists have now created a camera with such an immense shutter speed that it is now possible to take a photograph of a woman with her mouth closed.

I hate all this terrorist business.
I used to love the days when you could look at an unattended bag on a train or bus and think to yourself I'm going to take that.

Man in a hot air balloon is lost over Ireland.
He looks down and sees a farmer in the fields and shouts to him “Where am I”?
The Irish farmer looks back up and shouts back. "You're in that basket up there."

I had a Trivia competition shot to pieces until the last question which I got wrong.
The question was Where do women have the curliest hair?
The answer I should have given was Fiji...
Pat failed a Health and Safety course at the Senior Centre today.
One of the questions was:
"In the event of a fire, what steps would you take?"
"F***ing' big ones" was apparently the wrong answer.

Medical Alert
Remember this the next time you have major surgery and need a blood transfusion. This is good to know...
Researchers have found
That patients needing blood transfusions may benefit
from receiving
Chicken blood
Rather than human blood.
It tends to make the men cocky and the women lay better.

Just thought you'd like to know.....

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO ARE CRACKED,
FOR THEY ARE THE ONES WHO LET IN THE LIGHT!

Canada's 1%

Here’s how much Canada’s top 1% of income earners made in 2014 - National | Globalnews.ca

Canada’s top one per cent of income earners pulled in an average of $466,700 in 2014, and paid more in taxes than the average Canadian household makes in a year.

New data from Statistics Canada provides a glimpse of Canada’s wealthiest – the 268,505 Canadians who earn more than $227,100 annually.

Snow. Rather a lot of it. Enough for the 'ploughs to go out, & enough for me to have to shovel steps.
