Quite. And it took him less than 50 seconds to put his shoe on. If that was Canada he'd be heading off to his car to drive home next.

That's what I was thinking. Back in the 70s after a session in Bristol's Hofbrauhaus we continued after in Scamps nightclub - a dump I wouldn't normally have been seen dead in but it so happened that a cousin of mine was doing his drag act in the Hofbrauhaus and he gave us some free entry tickets.

I quickly left and waited outside for my mates to get fed up and I was leaning on a parking meter for support.

Unfortunately someone kept moving it and I had to keep picking myself up from the gutter.

I'm one of those drunks that falls asleep after 4 beers. I've never been completely wasted to the point where I cannot walk. Perhaps I will on my Daughters wedding day.

I begged my parents in the 90's to get one, but I could never convince them we needed one.

I did finally buy my own in 1998 or 1999, I think it was around 1,500 with the monitor. And now I balk at $500-$600 computers as costing too much.

Mine cost £449 around the same time, including a free printer which impressed me until I saw it (the printer) on sale for a mere £20 a week later.

I wonder what the exchange rate was back then to the US$. I dunno if $449 pounds was a lot of money or not.... I know $449 US$ was still a fair amount of money, I didn't even making $449 per week gross..... my weekly income was about $277 per week gross and I was working full-time....

Probable rate to the Canadian $ was 2.20 so about $990CAD.
It was the second cheapest computer available back then. I always had a thing about not buying the cheapest but getting the next one up so as not to look obviously cheap
A mighty 3gb hard drive. Very slow on loading images but good enough for everything else, burning to CDs, booking holidays, flights to Canada and instant messaging chats with the Mrs-to-be. I wouldn't be where I am now if I didn't have it.

I can't remember the exact specs to the one I had, I know it was Compaq and looked like this one, but don't know if it was the exact same one, but similiar. I kept it until 2003 when it finally stopped working. But yes back the connection speed not so great, waiting for photo load one line at a time. and the dial up to the internet.

Hells bells, that looks like the one. It was definitely Compaq and maybe something with a P.

I don't remember the specs just the fact it was 3gb HD. At the time, whichever Windows it was (98 I think) was about half a gb so I reckoned 3 was plenty, even though the advice was a minimum 20. It was always well short of half full.

Compaq Presario.

I bought one for a family member back in the 90's.

I had a Gateway

Looks like someone had some time on their hands to "paint" a skytrain in Vancouver.
