I think I'll just give up on this until they actually charge someone.

Police say there's only one suspect in Quebec mosque attack
http://fr.canoe.ca/infos/societe/arc...-090508.html#7
NB: there are several discrepancies in what is being reported depending on whether one looks at French or English language media, but most of the reports "naming names" are citing TVA as a source.
Even on Canoe, reports differ if one reads them in both languages.

Yes, almost as bad as the armchair detectives that wrongly identified Sunil Tripathi as one of the Boston Bombers. Poor guy.

Will there be more western, or Muslim on Muslim copy cat murders at home in our future? This war on terror never ceases to surprise with its twists and turns.

Quebec City mosque attack suspect Alexandre Bissonnette charged with 6 counts of 1st-degree murder - Montreal - CBC News
Alexandre Bissonnette: 6 charges of murder, 5 of attempted murder. Court still in session.
The other chap named earlier by media, was a witness only, and has been released.

My warped and cynical mind leads me to ponder just what Trump and Trudeau might privately be thinking. My guess would be something along these lines.
Trump: Oh fork! It was a white, Christian, right-leaning, cradle North American!
Trudeau: Thank fork for that!

Slightly surprised that a massacre of this scale is not being reported more prominently by the UK media. The fixation seems to be very much on the anti-Trump protests. Obviously, both are big stories, but from recollection the various shooting tragedies in USA France, Turkey were major news items here, and this seems almost a footnote (in BBC's case, appearing after several other stories). Bizarre editing.

Simple truth is Canada's mass shooters are usually white and Canadian-born: Neil Macdonald - CBC News | Opinion
That's the downside of living in Canada. The fear of your passive aggressive white neighbours and when they will finally flip out.

Watching live on CBC - its so touching to see how Quebecers are coming out in huge numbers past midnight in such cold weather to the site of massacre to support their fellow community members.

Re: Quebec City Mosque Attack
And unlike the War Memorial - House of Commons shooter or the vehicular homicide terrorist this one seems unknown, no immediate revelation that he was already on a watch list, and his social media account wasn't full of ISIS, no reports that he'd been seeking help, and no suicide note/manifesto (that we know of yet). He appears to be well equipped but un-trained and un-practiced. If he reloaded several times and only killed and wounded as many un-armed men as he did he either can't shoot or stopped aiming when he saw what he was doing, which jibes with his apparent remorse and surrender. If he hadn't given himself up there might still be a man-hunt going on. There were vigils today across the country but I missed the late news so don't know how many came for the one here.
