Psst...wanna buy a former jailhouse?
A different sort of cell job: jail for sale in Dorchester - New Brunswick - CBC News
You can own this Canadian prison for a third of the price of a Toronto or Vancouver condo
Additional info from the local paper:
I wonder why.

Public hangings used to take place in the courtyard and the gallows then moved indoors where the condemned dropped through a trap-door in the second-storey floor.
"Some of the staff who worked there told of unexplained happenings. I've had some who couldn't stay."
He's had a few tire kickers but no concrete offers.

I would buy it if I had that kind of money...
Looks like a mortgage on it would still be cheaper then what we pay in rent...lol

I would buy it, spend another $100k + to do a gut it, clean it up to basic basic standards to a single family home, live in it & rent out part of it, or as an income property (rooms, offices, residential)
I would start with an offer of $125k
just think of the possibilities as a comparison
Former Headquarters of San Francisco's Socialist Party on the market for $1.9 million
Bristol what about you?

I did some 'street view traveling' in the area and there's not much around, so you'd need to do something to attract interest.
You probably couldn't get away with hiding the history and I think that would put people off. Unless it became your focus.
A Museum of the Macabre might be a better bet. Or a restaurant with themed rooms - watch a mock hanging, or staged electric chair scene as you dine. Or a guillotine. Like those old fairground machines.
Maybe maintain a floor of cells and try to get interest from film makers or TV producers for prison scenes.
Do it up and run as a brothel?

I think it has some great potential...
- 'Themed' (lol) hotel,
- Attraction/museum/restaurant as others have said
- Shooting location for TV/Film!
There are *plenty* of tv shows/movies that need 'realistic' cells/prison layouts, a few changes to make it media friendly (mainly just providing power/places to hang lights.etc) and it would have potential!
Edit - Bristol pointed the TV aspect out before me - so credit to him!
