prolonged visit back to the Uk

Hi All
Quick question, we have been here as PRs for just over 3 years, my wife has had to return to the UK as her mother has been taken ill and she feels she needs to be with her, question is how long can she stay out of the country till it becomes a problem ? any info welcome.

best wishes

Is correct however the caveat being that if they already had been out of Canada lets say for 3 months then the 3 yrs would put them over.
The simplest way to figure it out is on the day the person comes back to Canada is will they or can they meet the 730 day obligation in the last 5 yrs.
The 5 yrs being the day they land back in Canada and not the date of the expiry of the PR card.
All of the technical details exemptions and calculations can be found in this link

Sounds like you're not going with her. Apply for citizenship when you're eligible (which sounds as though it will be soon and it takes a year or so to get it) and then it doesn't matter anymore, she keeps PR status for as long as you're married.
