Plan of sorts

We have a 5 year plan of sorts, and it will lead us out of Canada if all goes well.

Long term is we want housing stability and to get that we would need to own since renting these days is iffy at best, and house ownership won't happen in BC, and as we don't want to leave the west coast, the next best option is to live in the US, wages in places like WA & OR are mostly the same as BC, but the overall cost of living lower, and even when we account for healthcare, the numbers show us better off overall.

That part of the plan is 4-5 years down the road, the smaller steps leading to that we have already started such as rebuilding credit in the US for me, and taking 2 classes this fall that are a pre-requisite to a short term training program to gain some skills, pending passing the pre-requisites and finding a way to fund the short term training program, that will hopefully happen in spring, but funding is dependent on a couple gov't programs since tuition is well pricey and its a public college, they just charge a small fortune for the short term training classes.

It may not work out, but who knows at least its somewhat of a plan.

At least you have some sort of plan!

Plans can always be modified but having one is a good start.

Oregon is very nice. I had a great time down there. The winters are much nicer than up here.

That's what I was thinking. It's about 1/2 way for both of your families. And Oregon is really lovely.

Yes, I guess it also works out that way as well. Lol

Frankly if it were affordable and doable we would just go to San Diego, but that place has gotten expensive.

Never lose a diploma as it makes life complicated.

Unfortunately my state does keep records at the state level and the school isn't sure what I am asking about and keeps wanting to just send a transcript but the school here wants the transcript and diploma info, but being 19 years since I graduated not an easy task.

Once summer is over and the school has full staff again maybe it will be less complicated. Not sure the summer workers really know the ins and outs of everything.

No sales tax and you can buy beer in the supermarket and at petrol stations.

it's like California but without the sales tax and all the people.....

You can buy booze in California grocery stores, gas stations, 7/11, pretty sure Wal-Mart and Target sell a selection of booze as well, the types can vary, some can't or don't sell hard stuff like 7/11 which normally just has beer and Smirnoff ice type beverages.

Cheap in Calif as well, venture its not much higher in Oregon unless Oregon taxes it like mad.....

First trip to Oregon is in October, for 2 days, just going for a mini-vacay and to see an aquarium there, not going to scout places or towns, we just can't make it to/from San Diego in 3 days....
