Pickup Trucks
I know nothing absolutely nothing about pickup trucks, but I'm not going to let this fact deter me from buying one as I think I'll need it to carry the shed back from sheds 'r' us.
Requirements: - 4x4 - 2 Door - Auto - Reliable - Made this century - $10-15k Don't really care about handling or ride as it's mainly only going to do short shed related trips (and it's a truck so I expect it to be bad). I've had a look on autotrader, and there are lots around, but I've no idea what's good and what's shite. Anyone got any advice or recommendations? |

Re: Pickup Trucks
Shed? What? Where are you putting this? Are you moving somewhere?

Re: Pickup Trucks
How are you going to get the shed off the truck once it's back at yours? I think you need to buy a crane too.

I'm not precious about cars. I want something that will do the job.
I'm trying to move to an acreage at Maple Ridge. There will probably be sheds involved at some point. |

Long box or short box? (Long box fits an 8 x 4 sheet of plywood flat) You say two door, regular or extended cab? For your budget a chevy 1500 (half ton) or 2500 (3/4 ton) would likley work. Reliable and domestic vehicles don't usually go together. If you want to spend a bit more, Toyota Tundra regular cab (avoid the ones around 2000/01), T100 (if you can find one) or Tacoma for a compact truck. I have had nothing but problems with anything Chrysler and Ford. |

Not sure what the difference between full size and compact is, but I don't need 4 seats. Going to look at some of these suggestions now |
Re: Pickup Trucks
Taco or Tundra. Look at what's available nearby and pick the one you like.

Re: Pickup Trucks
If you are hell bent on buying, FWIW after long consideration, research, test drives etc, My boss ended up replacing his older Nissan Mid size truck with a new leather clad Ford F150. Best combination of Features & Powertrain vs Price. He hated the shite interior of the Silverado with a seldom seen passion and required 4x4 capability with locking differentials, which priced the Toyota out of the competition. Nissan was never considered after issues he had with two previous US built Nissans.
He seems pretty happy with his truck. as AX is about to say, there are some BIG sweeteners on the table to get you into a Ford dealership, but at 10 to 15k it may be hard to find a current iteration, used F150, with 4x4, that's not beat to hell and back. |
Re: Pickup Trucks
F150. You should be able to pick up a new shape (04+) one at that price range. But seriously look into a new one as there deals to be had or so I'm told.

Although, this is bad timing for you cos my Father-in-Law just sold his old F150 pick up for cheap just to get rid. |
