Re: PC Plus points/app?
Must say i love PC points! I dont have the app though. I load my offers weekly via an email i get every Friday morning, snapshot them as a photo on my phone to check while shopping and Bob's your uncle!
Must have got around $200 of free groceries since it launched "spending" my points.

Re: PC Plus points/app?
According to my app, I've had $980 of free groceries so far and have $180 to spend.
But that's over ten years, so doesn't work out to a lot on an annual basis.
Best offer I had was something like 10,000 points for every $50 spent; effectively 20% off everything I bought there that day.

I haven't got the app, just the card. I don't like the app idea really. I get that they track what I'm buying via the card, for example I'll get extra points if I buy dessicated coconut this week, because I bought some a few weeks ago.
My tinfoil hat is being constructed as we speak

I use the app because a) daughter installed/explained it to me & b) I'm very good at losing/forgetting cards and I'd likely also forget to check and load offers via email. With the app I just have to hit the button & hey presto offers are there (well, usually they are!!).
When I got the app, I had a couple or three cards floating around with tiddly amounts of points on them - daughter did some sort of wizardry and got them all synced/transferred onto the app "card". I think there was some sort of bonus (points) too for installing the app.
I don't get huge benefits from PC points, because I don't always shop there, but it's enough to make it worthwhile when I do.

No tinfoil offers (yet) However, the dogfood offer has FINALLY disappeared this morning, and new, more "normal" & relevant ones have loaded. There is one for Tupperware-type containers...

I do shop at Maxi (amongst others)- just used Loblaws as parent company name for reference because there are only about 3(?) of us on the forum who would know which store Maxi is.
We mostly only have pleb stores here anyway ; The non-pleb ones are away up or down the road

Of course. I forgot. Different name elsewhere. Same with Super-C.
The number of large supermarkets here amazes me. I can count two Maxis, a Super-C, two Metros and an IGA within a radius of about a mile.
Ditto pharmacies. Ditto big-box DIY stores (I really don't know how a smallish city can support that many branches of Home Depot, Rona, Reno Depot etc).

Sometimes it's a bit like Amazon's emails when they let you know about something you already bought.
Last week I bought Exact Acetaminophen 500mg in the 500 pills size.
This week they're offering 500pts/50c for $5 worth.
In the first place, having just bought a bottle of 500 pills it's going to be quite some time before more are needed.
Secondly, the best deal on those pills was the size I bought. Not an offer, just their normal price for that size. About $17 for 500 compared to something like $7.50 for 100.
The equivalent of 50c off the smaller size is not a good deal and 50c off $17 doesn't make you think you must go to the store and buy some, especially when it's already a bargain buy.
Last week I bought some light bulbs. So this week they're offering me 200pts for each $1 spent.
But not only did I already buy all I need for a while, I bought them because they were half their normal cost. That was a far better deal.
The 60c worth of points on butter selling at $4.99 isn't attractive when I routinely pay $3.50 or less.
This is why I don't pay much attention; if I concentrate on the PC points on offer the net cost to me would generally be quite a bit more.

Re: PC Plus points/app?
We have a Maxi (used to be a Provigo), Walmart, Giant Tiger, Dollarama all in the same (massive) parking lot. Metro is about 500 yards further down the road, IGA closer to Town centre (maybe ~800 yards "up" the road from the others). There's also an open to the public wholesaler opposite Maxi etc.
Also 2 large (one is massive) pharmacies, but not so many big box diy stores. The Rona here is crap, BMI even worse.
All this in a town MUCH smaller than yours.

BMR, like CANAC, is not really the same as HD or Rona. It's more of a builder's merchant. The BMR store near my son's place has a crap shop and a sodding huge material yard out the back.

A couple of this week's PC offers are clearly related to stuff I bought over Christmas/NY while at my daughter's, for her family, which I wouldn't buy myself.
I never get points offers for butter; probably don't buy enough, because it's always cheaper elsewhere!

Provigo is also Loblaws. Walmart is getting better (we have two within a mile). Giant Tiger is hell on earth. Metro and IGA are where you go to buy poncey stuff.
BMR, like CANAC, is not really the same as HD or Rona. It's more of a builder's merchant. The BMR store near my son's place has a crap shop and a sodding huge material yard out the back.

GT is quite good (for basic foodstuffs) here. Walmart is surprisingly good too.
Metro is stupidly expensive (and wannabee poncey!), IGA is very Poncey but sometimes has good specials on excellent meat.
