How did this thread go for almost a week without a post?

Someone went into my car last night and stole all the loose change I had collecting in the cup holder. $15 - not a lot really but it still pisses me off. No, I don't bother locking it - its a 15 year old beater I use for going to and from work. Whoever it was didn't even bother to clean up after himself (I'm assuming a him too here just because I hate saying themselves). So basically I paid someone $15 to go digging through the car and leaving a mess. At least he didn't puke in it.

So although leaving it unlocked is NOT an invitation to steal stuff, I'm going to lock it from now on.

I suppose of I lived in the old country I could count on this happening nightly from what I hear.

Aww Richard, thats terrible...and on your Birthday too.:(

The same sort of thing happened to me last year outside work. Some bar steward smashed my side window to steal a £2 torch belonging to my son...it was on the back seat. Nothing else was touched at all. It cost me £90 to have the window fixed, mind you...i leave my are open all the time outside my house and i've never had a problem:o

Hmmm, maybe its best if I leave it unlocked then. At least they won't have to smash windows to get in.

If your not bothered to much about it then leave it open. It could have been a one off and will never happen again. My car is only 3 years old so i defo lock it when i'm not at home. Just remember to lift anything valuable out of it at night.

Could have been a one off. It happened once before about 5 years ago. They got a Walmart gift card with 87 cents left on it that time.

I'm thinking that last night it was some drunk on his way to the pub down the road for another drink looking for money to pay for it checking for unlocked cars along the way.

Its not that the money lost will make or break me. If I dropped it down a storm drain I'd feel stupid. In this case I just feel mad.

I'll get over it though. At least I took the garage door opener out a few weeks back - for this reason exactly.

I totally understand, it's not the actually value of the things taken...it's the fact thats someone stole them in the first place. Try to think it could have been somebody who just needed change for the ride home. Maybe they really meant no harm nor to upset you like this. It could have been worse hun, they could have trashed the car or taken it...:(

Sort of. May 2 is my oldest daughter's birthday so we all went out for dinner on Saturday night. Kind of a double celebration.

Now that she's 13 I think the fun will start. Although she isn't boy crazy yet, I'm thinking it won't be long before she is.
