And I know Maryland Ned is male and is "Maryland Ned", was just using it as an example of one that confused me before I knew it for sure!

Does that mean that Maryland Ned's better half is not called Mary then? hmm...

Surely you should be hanging out with kids your own age...rather than a bunch of old drunks like us. If you were my 15 yr old son I wouldn't let you either...also I wouldn't allow you to spend a great deal of your time on a forum full of adults.

Gozit that is very kind of you but I agree with Jerseygirl. Bad enough hanging out on a forum with people old enough to be your parents or grandparents but not right to meet in person... I have a 15 year old and I would be horrified if he told me he was going out to meet a bunch of adults he only knows from a forum (he wouldn't be allowed beyond the front door). Which is not to say that he doesn't chat online sometimes with old people when playing his games...
Like SchnookoLoly said we're an age-accepting group
But like I said I probably won't be making it to this meetup...

I think she may have meant adults. BE is a forum for adult British expats...normally we would ask a 15 year old to find a more age appropriate forum. You've been lucky.

Actually as an aside, being 15, wouldn't he/you have leave by 9pm latest anyway?

Having corresponded with Gozit, both on & off various threads, & having visited SY, I'm going to have to say that while SY wouldn't have a problem with his presence there, I probably would.
Gozit, I very much enjoy your interaction here. But, while I'm a very liberal/somewhat hippy parent, you're (just) younger than my youngest child. She's accompanied me to Internet meet-ups. I wouldn't let her go to anything like this one on her own, & wouldn't bring her with me on this one. Sorry!
One of the reasons I had such a ball in Toronto was NOT having any offspring around. & I certainly didn't go wild
On an other aspect of age: turns out I'm old enough to be Schnooks & her mister's mum. I think we enjoyed ourselves quand-même

I'd feel responsible for you as a minor, even if not mine Which would lead to me not being able to fully enjoy the event (not your fault, that's just the parental thing).
Now, if we were planning a BBQ or similar meet-up, in a park, during the day, for example, I'd have no problems. And in similar circumstances, I've allowed my offspring to participate, with me in tow

I'd have a problem with your presence at a meet-up full of adults in a pub.

And I get the feeling responsible part - that's sort of what I thought your post was getting at. I was thinking "They do know they aren't responsible for me, right?"
