Part 2,with spaces,capitals etc,
Hope this is a little better,keyboard isnt so good,back space and shift are giving me problems, may be batteries going,but i will persevere,havent figured how to make the fonts bigger either,for all with poor eye sight,so if there is a problem with capitals etc,its the keyboard.
So arrived in this small bush town late at night,so ended up sleeping rough again.Ended up staying at the ex and families house for a day or two,it wasnt a nice situation by any means,even worse when her latest love came to visit. So that was that,a while later we did get together but the same thing happened again when i was working away,so that was it,funny thing two years later,i was sitting in a pub in Melton Mowbray having a lemonade and pork pie,when they walked in,well she was from there originaly,and from what i gather,he transfered to the aussi banch of the bank he worked for,did offer him a beer,to no avail,seems he didnt want any thing to do with me,guess that went for both of them,very sad part of my life,i'm almost over it now,even though it's only been 40 years. Well Peterborough was a railway town(population 2000 or so) but not any more,lucky i had a trade so no problem with work and had a camp such as it was,and also,"lo and behold" a few young english men,straight off the boat. Didn't stay long,wages were low and the heat was awful,at the time they were still using some steem locamotives,which didnt help,especialy if working near the boiler,town was nice,camp left a lot to be desired,had a bunch of polish guys there,never realy got to know them,all i can remember is they went to work,came home,ate, sat out side for a while went to bed and every day it was the same, well this probably not to interesting,seem to be spending most of time getting the keys to work,any way i have lots of time,the phone hasnt exactly been ringing for me to go to work any where,though that will be changing soon,when work starts on the new generaters at the dam. Time for the dogs walk,thats the beauty of small towns, forrest is on the door step and dont need a leash. |

OK Paul, loved part 2, now need to know more - please presever with the old keyboard. the world was so different then and it's wonderful to hear it from someone who lived life saw something of the world.;)

I agree with Rob4BC, It's fascinating to hear stories from people (older generation) about how life was and how easy it was then to just cross frontiers. No permits, No visa's etc. Bring on that spirit of Adventure Paul. Everyones waiting for the next installment. PS oh yeah, Melton Mowbray is home of the pork pie. |
