PAL ---> NTSC Converter

Anybody use one for a VCR, games console, whatever?

Been thinking of getting one, but can't find one with SCAART/RF input for my old VCR and UK N64.

I'm currently using my old UK TV to watch/play, but tbh it's a bit of a pain in the arse wheeling it out whenever I fancy delving into nostalgic vids and a quick go of Mario Kart...

Convert the videos to NTSC DVD and buy a Wii to play mario kart on (via the Virtual Console)? Problem solved ;)

From what I gather from friends in the TV industry, they're all pretty crappy unless you pay thousands of pounds for a professional model. But they should be good enough for VHS tapes and video games.

It's almost as though he were trying to speak English.

Got a Wii but didn't fancy shelling out to buy the extra controls and the points to get it.

Plus haven't got a DVD recorder.

Next.

How much are the PAL to NTSC converters? Can't be cheaper than my suggestion? A DVD-RW drive for a PC and a capture card are dirt cheap these days...

A GC pad for the wii is what, $10 max?

TrishB had one for her VCR iirc - PM her or search the archive. I think she got it via mail order and she was happy with it.

It's not worth using NTSC/PAL converters with consoles, there will be a delay in the signal reaching the TV which makes it useless. I had an NTSC -> PAL converter for an imported Gamecube a few years ago, the image quality was terrible and the sound/video was out of sync due to the delay.

Not worth it in my own opinion.
