Re: Orlando Nightclub
Having the right to such views isn't the same as having the right to buy a gun.
Why should buying a gun be a right?
Why not have the right to buy chemical weapons or a nuclear missile as long as I store it responsibly? Perhaps I should be allowed a cannabis plantation on my property on the same basis.

The missile silo could be under my deck, the surface of which slides back on tracks like Thunderbirds' swimming pool.

2 French cops were killed last night by a knife wielding idiot in Paris and ISIS claimed it was them.
The Orlando nutter was not ISIS as such, just calling 911 and saying u are doing this for a certain reason or for IS does not mean it is for that reason and also does not make it any less horrific!!
On another point it appears H Clinton is pro tighter gun law, and Trump is for everyone having a gun also he is saying he will stop all Muslim immigrants entering US from areas of trouble. He will win this so easy now ! As we all know how backward the average US citizen is

Carrying on from the Rugby debate it seems that this guy's issue was less about Islamic jihadi ideology and more about his conflicted sexual feelings/identity.

I doubt that Americans will ever be disarmed but why do they need military grade semi auto assault weapons and large capacity magazines ? It just makes it easier for them to kill large numbers of innocent people ?
This right to bear arms was written when they only had muskets and needs rewriting to restrict to single shot hunting rifles and none auto hand guns for self defence.
It was once reported then most self defence situations are over in the first three shots from both sides, real life isnt like the movies where they get through a few clips.
How many of those NRA idiots have lost loved ones to some person with an AR15 or similar weapon ? i doubt any of them so that makes it easy for them to defend having weapons like that.
Maybe someone should walk into an NRA meeting and let loose with a couple of AR15s with high capacity magazines and see how they feel after that.

The second amendment was written in a different time. If the military decided to take power in the USA with all its advanced weapons you really think civilians would have a hope on he'll against that even with weapons like the AR15 ?
If civil war broke out it would be over real fast in modern USA with all their military and police.

I can't find the comment I'm thinking of but I did find this one.
we just have to decide to what extent dead humans are a reasonable price for the ability to kill our own animals. In the UK we're not keen on random death. In the US and in South Africa, they're comfortable with it.

I've yet to find a more convincing argument than this one.

Own hunting rifles and wheel hand guns but military spec is unnecessary.
Remember the dad trick or treating with his kid who knocked on a house door and the person in the house opened up with a semi auto assault weapon through the door killing the small child. It's insane people have access to such weapons.

If he came down our village disco on the last Friday of every month, except for in July, waving a semi-automatic assault rifle, I’d say no! You will not come around here spouting extremist politico-religious views and claiming Second Amendment rights, not when the little ones are asleep outside in the carpark.

Slightly off topic, but why is Oink coming with odd symbol accents...is it just me on a tablet? A number of posters do that on occasion?
On a positive note, $3.5 million has so far been raised by a crowdfunding initiative for the families of the victims...not much comfort but still good, surely.
