Opinions please (photo's)
 

I know this has absolutely nothing to do with Canada but I'd like your opinions on which of these two pictures you prefer.

They are both of the caldera at the top of Haleakala volcano on the island of Maui, and each will print out at 12" x 30".

I prefer 1 because it seems to be more balanced - 2 looks a little off centre to me.

It's probably cos I used to be an engineer :rofl:

Number two - more interest, colour, depth and layers :thumbup:

But I do like the mist / steam / smoke or whatever it is, in number one :)

If I was hanging one on the wall I would go for #1, as its more symmetrical.... I find the rocky outcrop on the right of #2 a bit distracting and it draws my eye from the main event...



but what do I know, Im another endjinear.


For preference I would go with #1 and re-crop it to remove a bit of the foreground wasteland...

I prefer 2 - the rocks in the foreground give it an interesting extra dimension and some additional texture.

But I seem to be going against the grain - most other engineers have preferred #1 (does it count if I'm an engineer but working in marketing?) :)

Very nice shots, Steve. I was up there in 2005 - cold up there, ain't it!

I prefer image 1; I like the way the mist is framing the cone. Howver, right now I'm using an extraordinarily crappy monitor, so I can't see very much of the foreground in either image. I might change my opinion when I look at these at home.

When you were driving up did you see the cyclists heading down?
