Ontario Trillium Benefit

Oldest child (19yrs, home for summer after 1st year at uni) has received a small cheque (less than $50) labelled the Onatrio Trillium benefit. Google has it relating to a refund on property/energy taxes, but of course he spends too much on sushi, visits to the gf and EtOH to have ever paid anything like that. Is it usual to get payments like this?

It also includes the Ontario Sales Tax Credit (which is paid in addition to any GST/HST credit). It's payable once they reach 19 so presumably this is why. (sorry brain dead today, edited this three times!)

Ontario Sales Tax Credit
Do I qualify?

You may qualify for the credit if you:

are a resident of Ontario at the beginning of the payment month, and
are 19 years of age or older, or
:)
