One of the most tasteless ads ever

Texas mattress shop apologises for 'disgusting' 9/11 ad - BBC News

Heard about this on the radio this morning - how thick can they possibly have been to have thought this was a good idea?!

Here's the video: NEWSTALK 1010 - IN-DEPTH RADIO :: WATCH: Cringe-worthy 'Twin Tower' mattress sale ad to coincide with 9/11 :: News - Article

Sick yes of course, but this has spread like wild fire and now everyone knows about their sale. I had never heard of them before this advert, so it worked.

Thing is will anyone go there now

I thought it was amusing. It's refreshing after all the sanctimonious crocodile tears of the red white and blue Brigade

Yes kind of agree. I would say the ad was distasteful but humour often deals with making us feel uncomfortable. It certainly had a "I'll just borrow my brother-in-law's video camera" feel to it.

No, the owner closed the store.

He must be worried about his sales crashing.

The store closed for a couple of days, after death threats. Thats the story, death threats for a harmless joke advert.

It was his Daughter who was in the ad, so not surprising he closed the store.

His daughter is an idiot. That said, it's easy to forget that 9/11 was 15 years ago and therefore school leavers today (aged 18) will have no memories of 9/11 at all, and anyone less than about 25 is only going to have sketchy, childish memories.

That is true. Probably our generation's JFK moment.
