Re: OK - what are these poles?????
Me? Having you on? What on earth do you mean by that?
Just outside Peterborough, there's a very notorious crop circle where every Thursday in July and August, the body-snatchers come to find anyone not wearing a tin hat.
Probing? I can tell you a thing or two about that. Oh yes.

I can belive there are body snatchers in Pboro.
I always wear my tin hat in July and August, and me green gumboots. Is that why I am safe?? or maybe not, maybe i dont remember, You would remember significant probing wouldnt you?

Its just grid lock as the locals dont know how to drive. Plus they get overly excited about a markey and queue to get in to the car park

Shouldn't it be: "Who are these Poles?"

I'm with the OP on this- I wouldn't currently live slap bang next to a mobile phone mast if I could avoid it. I should state I am not into crystals, I am not a believer of homeopathy either and I do not believe in benefits past lives therapy. BUT I wouldn't subject my young children to a mobile phone mast until there is proof beyond doubt that they do not have an effect, as I believe logically that there could be. At the moment there is no proof I think either way- but scandinavian countries are taking this very seriously.
I also wouldn't subject my children to pylons either:

I know enough about the human body and science to know that we don't yet fully understand the way things work. For that reason, and call me potty and sensationlist if you want (but I do not read the tabloids and I am a professional scientist) but we do not have WiFi and I will not send my little ones to a wified school until the jury comes in

another link:

http://www.hpa.org.uk/hpa/news/artic...er_voltage.htm
All of which says 'we don't really know or understand , but there is a link', me I'm not risking it. To me I find it incredulous that people were surprised to find a link between cigarette smoking and lung health, but they were. So I find it plausible that increased EMFs next to phone masts COULD cause problems for little children

However, science is always like that - "we dont know enough, we need more studies etc etc". Very, very difficult to prove negatives. For example, I came across a study in the last year that clearly demonstrated that wearing sunscreen contributed to skin cancer. This was AFTER all of the confounding factors had been removed.

Re: OK - what are these poles?????
thats all they advise, but they stick these masts everywhere.
You have to be good at science to work out if it hits certain areas etc.
Luckily i have a good friend in the uk who has helped us keep the masts away, looking at canada they do seem to put them anywhere, but not with the 3g phones.
The poles that we saw was radio and tv masts, but they also host the mobile transmitters :curse:
We have totally gone full circle and london is out of the house buying area for me and my little ones, but thanks i will keep the link for our new search area

This is quite a nicely written article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correla...mply_causation
Presumably you'll be wanting to live in an ice-cream free area, as there's a clear correlation between ice-cream consumption and violent crime.

They do have a hypothesis for powerlines actually and it tests just fine. It has been found that near powerlines very small peices of radioactivity are more likely to be desposited and they hypothesise that pollutants etc will also be preferentially deposited in the same way- this could cause clusters and other symptoms.
I have always felt about science that there can often be two camps and it is very beneficial to read both camps before making up one's mind. I also studied history and philosophy of science in my undergrad and progression of sceince can either be incremental or sudden with a significantly changing philosophy.
Like I said I don't mind taking risks for myself (Ben and Jerrys etc) but children are and have been proven to be more susceptible to these things and for that reason I would prefer my young children arent part of some mass experiment -Until the point at which living our lives becomes so difficult that we have to change our ideas. fo now it means avoiding Wifi in home and school and for not living near phone masts and Hi V powerlines- none of which is too onerous or tricky
