Who wants to come to a forum where you constantly answer the same recycled questions only to be then called a brat by a moderator because you got bored and started/commented on a thread away from immigration topic.

Sorry but after being on this site for a long time and seeing how senior members are treated by the 'impartial' moderation team it's no wonder why people are choosing not to post.

I can say that most of our friends are still reading but they have given up on the whole typing part because...What's the point?

I just want to add my 2c and set a few thing straight.

1. Nothing is deleted because it "might" upset someone. Generally its either already been reported for offending, or its a clear breach of the rules regarding adult content or abusive behaviour.

2. For about a year here it seems to me that there was effectively very little moderation here, Ray had other things on his mind, so did Biiiink. Since January that has changed, and some posters who first started here in that period have had to get used to the fact its moderated again, as was always intended.

3. We do not delete or edit everything reported. There are as many people pissed off when we dont act on a complaint as there are pissed off when we do.

4. The mods are not here all the time, poised to intervene, contrary to popular rumour. NOT SHOULD WE HAVE TO BE. You are mostly all adults, you know the rules, so try and act like adults and stick to them. If there was NO moderation, reported posts would never be attended to, so if you report a post, be patient, it may be looked at immediately, it may wait several hours. But, it WILL get looked at eventually, so have patience.

5. Ive been here 5 or 6 years now. People come and go ALL THE TIME. They get bored and move on, they find better things to do, or they butt heads with some of the other posters. Many good online friends have come and gone. FWIW I miss Steves input too, he told me he was taking a break because of "too many idiots and assholes".

6. I have no problem at all with the jokes and banter....AS LONG AS THEY DONT BREAK THE RULES OR CAUSE OFFENCE. It has been quiet here recently, but then so has our inbox too.

7. Finally, yes, this breaks rule 14 regarding discussing moderation, but the whole sly carping on about the mods and our behaviour and its effect on the forum has to come to an end at some point, and this thread is it. If you have something to say, say it now or forever hold your peace. The sooner certain people realise that it is what it is and its not going to change in the near future the better for all of us. Any further comments or remarks would be best advised to be done in private, but as everyone else seems to have something to say on the subject, it seems only fair to present both sides of the picture.

Please remember, what you see going on in the surface in the way of edited posts, closed threads etc, is only a fraction of the time and effort put in by myself and CO and others in the background to try and minimise how often we have to step in to keep this a civil forum where newbies should be able to post without fear of abuse or getting lost in all the noise. In general we have had FAR more positive feedback then negative recently.

I asked for feedback over a week ago in a genuine attempt to get to the bottom of this, I got one negative message. For all those who are apparently having a say on FB, If you have a problem, then at least have the common decency to bring it to us face to face (in private) I dont go on Facebook, nor do I intend to. If you want to talk to me, I'm easy enough to find.

For me, your response crystalises more than ever what is wrong on the Canadian forum at the moment. The arrogance of your post is astounding.
To say there was little or no moderation on this forum for so long is an insult to Biiiink, not to mention admin and supermods, who in my opinion did a fantastic job. I was also a moderator at that time so had insight into what was going on more than a normal poster would do.
It's a difficult thing to go from being a member to a moderator but finding that balance is something that is essential if the forum is going to run smoothly. Clearly, this balance hasn't been reached yet.

It seemed to me that Biiinks name was on the list for at least three months before she stepped down, but that she was increasingly detached. As pointed out earlier Sue and the supermods generally step in as a last resort, they are not regular forum participants, so dont necessarily see the attacks on posters who simply choose not to return as a result. I dont see any arrogance in simply stating the fact as they were in the back end of 08.

If I made a mistake in the transition it was in failing to make it clear that the rules were to be applied again, and in cutting BC in particular too much slack early on, which he took as carte blanche to carry on as before.

Biiiink told me in early september that she was considering taking a break, but If you know different, feel free to tell me in private, a courtesy that I would have expected from a former mod anyway...

Don't bother Val it is pointless I've tried explaining to them on numerous occasions (nicely I might add) that they come across wrong, make stupid decisions constantly and generally rub people the wrong way but they never listen, so as they say get used to it or get lost...
