Default Oh how I miss European prices

I'm currently in Europe and yesterday, as I was walking along some bars in a seaside resort I saw a sign 'pint of beer 1GBP' (obviously in local currency). Then in a restaurant a glass of Chilean white (125ml) was 2GBP. I had an amazing fish soup, which was 2GBP. No tax, and no tipping culture (yet).

The week before we were in the UK and went to do some shopping in Sainsbury's. Obviously, we first went to the cheese section. Boursin - 1.50GBP, camembert 2GBP, etc... Never thought I'd say that groceries are cheap in England!

PS. Sorry, can't find the pound sign.

Your nostalgia would be cured by a trip to the petrol station (£1.39/l)

That's true.
I earn in Canada a bit more than I did in the UK, but even there my salary was around 6 times more than 'back home'.

I just returned from the hairdresser's. Got a cut and low-lights and high-lights (2 colours). Paid 25GBP (including tip).

Goodness where in the UK are you? Just over a pound per litre ... really? And $25 for cut high/low lights ... good grief I was paying three times that when I left England 7 years ago!

I was in Iceland in April and you wouldn't want to compare the prices to Canada, UK or Poland Lucky we were there for only 4 days, would have been bankrupt otherwise.

The title should be 'Oh how I miss SOME European prices'
