It does seem so. I wonder what the ratio of Timmies:Starbucks coffee sold is?

Tims outsells Starbucks in Canada by a country mile.

there are a lot more Tim's than Starbucks in Canada.. but looks like Starbucks owns the major urban centres.. especially Vancouver.

Tim's is quickly reaching their saturation point in Canada, which is said to be 4,000 locations, and have tried really hard to succeed in the US, but they just can't seem to do it.
It will be interesting in coming years if they keep trying south of the border or if they finally give up.
One interesting note from an article, Canadian stores generated operating profits of 182,000 per store, in the US is 20,000 per store.
Doesn't seem to be a profitable venture in the US at all.

By the time my so-called smart(y pants) phone has finished doing that irritating dotted circle loading app thingy, I'll have already arrived at Timmies, seen the queue, gone next door to the gas station & got my (very good) coffee with free muffin ;-)

The national appeal of Timmies must surely be that it is Canadian - and only that. The coffee is distinctly average, the interiors are nothing special, doughnuts are not sure as I'm not big on doughnuts...

Now the fancy drinks are crazy of course, but Tims doesn't really sell those.

Starbucks does not own the major urban centers. Tims would own Toronto.
