OK, straight to the point, I am an English Curler, yes born and raised in sunny England and playing curling in the same sweet spot. Moving to Canada in 2011 but before I do I want to play curling for England, so to my request.

Does anyone reading this site play curling and spend sufficient time in England to be able to practice and compete?

The only conditions are, that you play and if possible play well and it will be the seniors so must be over 50 years old? Only other thing to mention is that you must be of English stock (passport) or have lived here for two years?

An odd request indeed :)

Wow - 3 pages of responses and looks like I'm the first curler to say hi!!

Unfortunately I only meet 1 of your requirements in that I possibly play well, hopefully well enough to qualify out of England!

I'm actually still in Canada thanks to a curling link. When I first came over 10 years ago for an exchange year at Uni, I went down to the Calgary Curling Club to play my first club game. I was planning on buying new shoes when I got to the club as equipment here is much better priced, but the store had shut early. So I got chatting to the ice guy and was able to borrow his shoes for that night.

The ice guy I borrowed shoes from is currently my best friend over here and just married one of my good Scottish friends. That first year we curled in juniors together here in Alberta and got all the way to the provincial junior final, we were one bad end away from getting to Canadian nationals!! Through that link though I've now moved over to Calgary.

Anyhoo more curling pedigree to show off, I'm originally from Lockerbie and was in the same class as current world champion David Murdoch, my little sister has represented Scotland at Juniors and I've been to the Scottish nationals at junior levels a few times.

Still curling here in Calgary now, play in a men's league on Thursday evenings (with the ice guy, and skipped by the '08 Alberta senior champ) not quite as competitive as I was when younger, but still play the odd bonspiel.

Good luck in your search.
