I've got a kindle. It's great for reading in bed - no need to mess about turning pages.

Good. The OH has just gone to bed (reeking of alcohol) with a newly published and even more newly downloaded novel by Julian Barnes.

$3.95 it cost me (the novel not the Kindle).

Can you get porn on it? If not I'm sticking with the pad. Otherwise the bed comments remain relevant.

BLAG!!

<a word of explanation. there used to be a tradition / game on the now lamented grauniad talkboards, at least on the rather frivolous threads, to attempt to BLAG the 100th post on a thread or some other multiple.

I've missed this and am hereby attempting to introduce it to BE>

Thank you James. I saw this thread and thought there might be something of value here but I was wrong.

Until your post there was 6 pages of irrelavant arrogant smart-alec cynicism by overgrown children who have been hanging out in the knife drawer but aren't nearly as sharp as they think they are.

You are aware that this is British Expats? And that you're in The Maple Leaf, which is for irreverent, off-topic, and just plain daft threads?

You want intellectual, I'd suggest this isn't quite the right place for it.

I'd politely suggest that you aren't familiar with the OP's MO. Still, it's quite impressive that you manage to complain about people making smart-alec comments by doing the exact same thing. Well done.

I'm also curious as to what value they were expecting from this topic
