NS best place for buying kitchen bits etc..

Hi
We will be over very soon and have been looking at Home Depot website, which seems to have most things for getting started in our new place..

But can anyone give any advice and tips on good places for all the little nik nak bits for the kitchen and home etc.. in and around Halifax.

Just want to know all the good shops and places for some bargains..!!!
As we have loads to buy..
oh and the best place for duvets..

Thanks in advance.

Not specific to NS but for things that really dont need to be special (like a chopping board or tea towels) Walmart is pretty cheap. Also try Costco at Bayers Lake. Try the Dollar Stores too - they actually have really good stuff most of the time and cheaper than HomeDepot. Also, Canadian Tire (dent be deterred by the name) sells a lot of that kind of stuff at reasonable prices.

Thanks for that.. Great!!

I really don't want to over spend on all the basic kitchen bits, as I guess it will all add up pretty quickly...

I like a BARGAIN..!!!

What about duvets.? whats the best place for them..?

Also, try Kijiji for small household bits and pieces if you don't mind used - some great bargains to be had.

We got our queen feather duvet at Costco, I think it was just over $100.

you will find that duvets are outnumbered by things called comforters!!!!

They are like a thin duvet with the cover already on - we didn't think they would be warm enough but they are. (and how about this for a bargain - we got our queen sized ones from a place called Liquidation World - who also do kitchen stuff I hasten to add - for $10 a piece, and our king size comforter with pillow shams (fancy pillow cases) 2 cushions and a bolster cushion and bed skirt cost $50 for the set!!!!)

Homesense and Winners are also good places to look - the one's at Bayer's seem to have the better bargains.

In NS? Well Laura Ashley is the American branch of it and I have no idea about them other than that much. Best buy it and bring it with you if you cant cope without something, never assume you will have the same when here. But I have found very good alternatives to most things

Just to add, never pay the full price for anything in Canadian Tire as in a few weeks it'll be on sale. Everything goes on sale nearly all the time. If you do happen to pay full price for something and then it's on sale a week later, take your receipt and they'll refund the difference. They send flyers out every week.

Will they refund in real money or Canadian Tire money? I hate that stuff! ;)

Pampered Chef http://www.pamperedchef.com/index.js...leString=en_ca

They do great stuff, a bit expensive but very good. You can find reps who do somthing a bit like posh tupperware parties (I have a work colleague who does it in the UK), but in Canada I believe you can shop online too.
