In the other thread dbd brought up the most excellent point that most people's pics of Canada are not very representative of real life in Canada.

So... no mountains, pretty coastlines, sunsets or rises... 'real life' pics.


--- OK, my contribution for the moment.... I dislike my stove. :curse: I hate electric elements. Though gas is available, electric is the norm in most areas of Canada.

The Canadian stove is certainly a peculiar creature - pretty it ain't ! And there seems so little choice. So I agree, I hate your stove too :p

I'll carry the camera tomorrow and try for a typical day. Here are some I have already.

The pub at the end of the street where we lived until recently. The architecture is typical of older suburbs and isn't very different from that in English cities. The pub's now been closed because the people who ran it did and sold a lot of drugs and were too out of it to pay the rent.

Infill housing. This used to be the racetrack, the area is known locally and derisively as Pleasantville. Those little houses all squashed together originally sold for $1,200,000 and up.

Railway cottages. Nice and gentrified but cramped by Canadian standards.

Are Canadian washing machines useless too? I've used a few in the US, and they were 'U.S.' - not in the same league as the UK ones. I've used two in Canada and they were equally poor - top loaders, didn't seem to get to grips with kids clothes.

No pick - but a small gripe!:huh:

We moved into our house two days before Christmas in 2004, in the middle of a blizzard. On Christmas Eve I was cooking a meal and wondering why the "burner" wasn't getting even warm.....this was when I discovered that this ancient relic had been tampered with and the controls for said burners do not operate the ones depicted! :ohmy: A quick splodge of nail varnish over the knobs (can I say that word here?) has sorted that one. The oven also has a mind of its own and alway got hotter than it was supposed to - but not consistently. :eek: So sometimes by a mere 40 degrees, others it could be as much as 100 degrees hotter. :curse: I had to stand guard over the blasted thing as I'd lost count of the number of ruined meals my OH has bravely eaten. The element finally fizzled like a firework display a couple of weeks ago - new element seems to have solved this problem - for now. :)
But I still hate it - I just don't tell it cos I know it's just biding its time.............

Ah, I used to have an oven like that.
Could alternatively cremate a roast, or leave it the live side of rare. Black or raw, take your pick....:sneaky:

Typical $400,000 houses. Shared driveway or laneway, typically an unsound garage so the car's parked on the front lawn.

Urban backyard, 24' lot.

Heavy snowfall, there's this much in one go a couple of times a year.

On the other hand, Id rather load the diapers into a top loader. and they last forever unlike front loaders. Like anything else there are good and bad ones. Get a good one and its not a problem.
