I'm guessing their assets amount to $10K and they can no longer afford their rent. Cynical me. Good publicity stunt though.

I've been there once - they do better coffee than most of the other options in White Rock (imo).

Well they probably just want some other people to keep the cafe going as a social enterprise. I was mainly commenting on the journalistic licence of suggesting it's a $100K giveaway. If it's fulfilling a genuine social need then it's a shame if it needs to close.
