Noisy neighbours
Got a neighbour not attached to us, who plays loud bass every friday night, it makes our walls vibrate.last night I asked him politely to turn it down and he did a bit, but you can still hear it in our bedroom so I sat up until 2.30am waiting for it to stop so I could sleep. I am going to see him today when he is sober for a chat, does anyone know if there are any noise pollution laws in BC?
Short of that I may have to send the boys round |

Short of that I may have to send the boys round If that doesn't work then then tell him you'll contact your local bylaw services, then follow through with that if necessary, but be aware of the comebacks (revenge attacks, etc). Short of that, send the boys round. |
Re: Noisy neighbours
Every municipality has it's own bylaws, you should check with the city.

Re: Noisy neighbours
Just send the plods round and have done with it.

Re: Noisy neighbours
Well talked to him nicely during the day and he said it wasn't him!! Then it all started again at midnight last night, hubby went round and asked nicely for him to turn it down, turns out it is a video game, he told hubby 'this is a party house'. This guy is in 40's and we live in a sleepy little area, not what we were expecting when we moved in. Checked bylaws and within our rights, so will call them tomorrow and take it from there.
Very knackered. |

Re: Noisy neighbours
Good point, we have the number of the family that lived here before us, so are going to give them a call, but yes very aware that we don't want this to escalate, but he is ruining our weekends.
How did you resolve yours? |

How did you resolve yours? At one point we contacted our Neighbourhood Watch representative who put me in touch with our local police constable, who I asked for advice should we wish to pursue an official complaint. Trouble is he was useless and really didn't have any idea what we should do. I started collecting evidence so I could talk with a lawyer, but one day coming home from work I saw the sale sign outside and breathed a big sigh of relief. Current neighbours all around us are so quiet. Just remember that you have the right to a peaceful life in your house but also be aware that others can make life even more miserable for you if you fall out with them. |

Re: Noisy neighbours
white noise machine?
|
Re: Noisy neighbours
Revenge is the answer.
Wake up early on a Saturday or Sunday, run the lawnmower, or cut some wood using a nicely loud table saw. Air Horns work quite well too. You might not be able to solve the problem, but you will feel better. Alternatively, Google "Electromagnetic Pulse", and aim it through the wall. Try not to kill your own electronic goods though. |
Re: Noisy neighbours
Thanks for all the helpful (and amusing) advice! The white noise machine is a great idea, I have found something online that is a boom buster and fixes bass reverb, which is what our issue is.
Cheers all |
Re: Noisy neighbours
Mate . I feel for you. We've had an ongoing noise problem for months here. Hope you get it sorted soon.
Lovin' the avatar. We have a pair of pekin ducks and have just sent their ducklings away to their new homes. |

I am so sorry about what you have been through, but sounds like it is improving a bit for you, so fingers crossed. Yep I love ducks (especially a l'orange....joke ;)) Do you have any pics of your ducks? (Vicar) |

Cheers all If that's too expensive then a fan will work as well and will also keep the air moving in the room, although dries it as well. |
Re: Noisy neighbours
Any luck with this we have very bad neighbours and the bass makes the walls shake, did the white noise machine work and what was the name of it and where did you get it from

Re: Noisy neighbours
We are going to try this at the weekend(as that is when it starts up)
http://boombuster.com/wp/order/ Meant to really work and for 10 bucks I am willing to give it a go! |
Re: Noisy neighbours
You could always sellotape eggs boxes to your adjoining walls, paint them a funky colour and call it a feature?????
