Re: New York Hotels
Ah New York, I love it there, it's like a 2nd home I have been there so many times (about 7 I think)
I have stayed in the Park Central (7th Ave and 55th Street) all bar one time when I stayed in the Amsterdam Court (Broadway and 50th Street) Found both hotels to be great and always booked through Expedia as were always the cheapest (that is from the UK though) The Park Central has the added bonus of having the sight seeing buses drop you off right in front of the hotel. Not only that but you are close to the subway and within walking distance of Central Park, Times Square, the Empire State Building and the worlds largest Macy's store (you have to see it, covers a whole city bock!) As for places to eat, there are plenty around that will keep all your party happy. Try the Carnegie Deli (7th Ave and 54th Street ish) one sandwich will feed you all, they are HUGE (as are the cheesecakes!) Down in Times Square you have the Hard Rock Cafe and Bubba Gumps, as well as the Olive Garden, TGI's etc. Sbarro is great for a cheap eat. The pretzle's from the vendors in Central Park are yummy. Been a while since I was last there so can't think of anywhere else at the mo! Anyways I hope that proves useful. I really wanna go back myself now :( |

He did mention that - i think there is a deal that could be made there involving girlies getting a trip to new york for some retail therapy and men going ski-dooing/atv-ing depending on time of year!

Beware before you go in for booking in one of the cheap hotels. There may be bedbugs in them. Why, they may be anywhere. Why not the hotel management call for bedbugbureau personals and avail the facilities of having them eradicated?
Might want to consider a bit of editing. Anyway chat soon buddy. |
Re: New York Hotels
Have a look at the Stanford on East 32nd street. We stayed there twice and would def go back. If their suites are available, go for these ad the rooms are huge and not much more expensive than their standard rooms. Also, its cheaper through their website than expedia generally...

Re: New York Hotels
Hello
The Wellington on 7th Ave. Can't fault the location BUT it's by no means plush!! So much to do in NY that you spend very little time in the room anyway. Our 1st room was grim but they moved us with no hassle and the next one was perfectly acceptable. Enjoy your trip. |
Re: New York Hotels
Trip has been and gone now!
We a actually ended up staying in The Pod, which is on i think 52nd and 3rd (round there anyway!). Tiny rooms, but v. clean and newly done up so very funky looking - ipod dock and everything! Unfortunately, most of the ones recommended on this thread were booked up. Actually stayed in the Wellington when in New York about 9 years ago - can't beat it for location. Had a great time in New York, although due to the 9 year old, spent a LOT of time in Dylan's Candy Store and FAO Schwartz! Also saw Legally Blonde the musical which was great - Caitlin's eyes out on saucers the whole time - managed to get tickets for 30 bucks each from the ticket booths in times square, and only had to queue for about 45 mins. Also worth visiting with young kids - Ellen's Stardust Diner with the singing waiters/waitresses. |
