New Strimmer
Reading the instructions of said gizmo, it says the little plastic bottle of oil supplied needs mixing with a gallon of gas and then the whole mix is put into the fuel reservoir as needed.
I have never heard of mixing oil and gas before, certainly don't do that with the mower. Anyone else come across this and know of any harm in me not doing this everytime ? |

All 2-cycle (2 stroke) engines use a gas/oil mix.

Make sure to use the oil the instruction book tells you to. I made the mistake last year of putting scooter oil in my mower. It's hard to cut grass when you can't see it because of the clouds of thick black smoke.

My pleasure. Incidentally, if you're new to the world of strimming, I strongly suggest both long pants and eye protection.

Re: New Strimmer
Like most 2-stroke engines (chainsaws, etc.) if you don't use the proper gas/oil ratio the cylinder is totally Fvkked.

Re: New Strimmer
I was met with a bemused look from the Home Depot strimmer expert and promply corrected that they are called Whipper Snippers not strimmers in Canada. WTF??

Like Hoover, I think it's become a rather generic term. I've never heard it used here. Weed whacker seems quite common.
