• ITV executives ordered designers to remove the carrot from Ed Sheeran's head
• The TV bosses claimed the Spitting Image character was deemed too offensive

Spitting Image has redesigned its Ed Sheeran puppet over fears sticking a carrot on top of the singer's head would offend ginger people.

Instead, designers have replaced the carrot with turnip leaves instead.

So let me think about this? They deem that the carrot would offend ginger people but turnip leaves offend nobody. Did they ask Ed Sheehan about his preference of leaves coming out of his head?

Well, I agree with that. I really don't think anyone should be denigrating those with ginger hair. We have no ginger in our genes, so I'm speaking as an outsider, but I nevertheless think it's way past time to jettison this lame non-joke.
